1979 Nahariya attack. Samir Kuntar and three other PLF terrorists landed on the beach by rubber boat, killed an Israeli cop, then made their way to an apartment building. The mother(Smadar Haran) grabbed the neighbors and her two year old daughter Yael and hid.
Sadly, the terrorists captured the other daughter(Einat Haram, 4 years old) and the father(Danny Haram). They went outside, got in a firefight with Israeli soldiers. After finding his rubber boat had bullet holes in it, he decided to shot Danny Haram in the back and drown him, then rifle-butt the Einat Haram against a rock. The mother, in an effort to save the neighbors' and all their lives in the hiding spot, suffocated the 2 year old girl, Yael.(Hence, Hush Yael)
He was captured, spent time in jail, but was allowed a stipend with an activist(Free Gaza), an Israeli-arab woman whom he had married while incarcerated. He was released by the Israeli Government on July, 16th, 2008 for a prisoner swap. He's received all sorts of accolades in the Middle East, including Syria's highest medal, welcome parties by the leader of the Progressive Socialist Party leader in Lebanon. Al Jazeera wanted to lick his ass with a birthday party, but Israel threatened to boycott them.

Not to mention he's never regretted killing these poor people. There's crap floating around about him denying ever done it, but forensics and his original plea say otherwise. He did it, and he has pretty much said he'd do it again(He said he makes no distinction between Israeli civilians and soldiers).

Heralds, as in bearers of important news. It's an old word and it's not used frequently nowadays except for in the names of newspapers.

Cycledown777 is exactly right. This is just such a powerful song. Probably the best on the album.
I know what this song is about, and I know this album is a concept album but I don't see how this song goes with the album if it is part of the concept. It may not be which is totally cool I was just wondering if this had any relevance to the cd or not. Whether it does or not this is one of my favorites on the cd.
I think the link with the concept is this: After God and the devil disappear after their final battle (the finisher) the people of the world are left to wonder what will happen next (as explained by Micah in an interview about this concept album). I think this song is written from the point of view of one of those people who were left behind and that person is trying to make a point being that the human race is and has always been sinful and driven by it. I think the band/Micah is trying to demonstrate the chaos that is caused by religion, seeing as the Nahariya attack was an attack by Palestinians onto Israelis.

One of the biggest themes this album deals with is the fact that humans are inherently evil, and with no punishment from God, they can do what they want, with no hope for heaven or fear of hell.
This song is one of several that deal with this theme. It describes the Nahariya attack back in 1979 to support this idea.
Nahariya is in Israel. In April of 1979, four Palestinian terrorists arrived by boat in the town of Nahariya, to carry out a mission given to them by their leaders. This mission was to kill an Israeli police officer, and to kidnap some Israelis and take them back to Lebanon. They killed the police officer first, then went to an apartment building to search for their next victims. They broke into an apartment containing Danny Haran, his wife, and their two daughters, one was four and the other (Yael) was one. The mother was able to crawl into the crawl space with Yael and a neighbor that went to them for help. In order to prevent Yael from crying and causing them to be found, the mother held her hand over Yael's mouth in fear. This resulted in Yael being suffocated. The terrorists (at this point one of the four had been killed by another resident of the building) then took Danny and his four year old daughter as hostages to secure their escape and went back to their boat. By the time they reached it, however, Israeli police had surrounded them and disabled the boat. In an act of desperation, the leader of the terrorists, Samir Kuntar (who was only 16 at the time) shot Danny in the back, then drowned him to ensure that he was dead. He then beat the four year old girl to death against the rocks on the beach with the butt of his rifle. One more terrorist was killed by the Israeli police, and Kuntar and the remaining one were captured. They have both been released since then.
Phew, sorry for that long explanation, now on to how it fits into the album.
There are two relevant sets of lines that are important to the overall meaning of the album. First, it reiterates that humans are capable of despicable things, and second, The lines such as "cut him slow til his soul takes flight," and "End him slow," again brings up the cruelty of this world where they believe God is dead. They relish and take pleasure in punishing others.
Also (on a personal note), as I think others have said, the bastard that led the group, Samir Kuntar, has been honored as a hero in Lebanon, and the idea that he lives free just sickens me.
Ok, official lyrics everywhere say the line is "End him slow", but I've listened to the song a few times now with the volume cranked and it sounds a lot like the first line is "Rape him slow". Sounds really odd, but it fits with the rest of their sex-violence imagery (ie: The Marriage of Skin and Steel). Especially after they already said "Cut him til his soul takes flight". Anyone else hear this?
I'm pretty sure at the end it doesn't say "end him slow" but instead "raise him slow" referring to earlier where it says "so cut him slow until his souls takes flight"
