Love Will Conquer All Lyrics
When the castle in your head
Grows so cold
And you've broken all the bread
Your daddy sold, are you feeling old.
Did the war unload your mind
Is the fog too thick to shine
From her towers high
She can see your light
Hear the horses moan
Get up off your throne
Take your banner off the wall
For queen and country call
Love will conquer all
Love will conquer all
Fingers without hand
tearing at your string
(So long, alone)
We have a poison plan
it's more than a bad dream
Take your banner off the wall
for queen and country call
Love will conquer all
Love will conquer all
Love will conquer
Love will conquer
Love will conquer
Love will conquer all
Grows so cold
And you've broken all the bread
Your daddy sold, are you feeling old.
Is the fog too thick to shine
From her towers high
She can see your light
Hear the horses moan
Get up off your throne
For queen and country call
Love will conquer all
Love will conquer all
tearing at your string
(So long, alone)
We have a poison plan
it's more than a bad dream
for queen and country call
Love will conquer all
Love will conquer all
Love will conquer
Love will conquer
Love will conquer
Love will conquer all

It seems to me like it's about a king who put relationships out of the way in pursuit of fame and success. When he finally reaches the top he realizes that he was letting himself miss out on something important. He hides his feelings by saying he's too busy taking official business, like waging war. But his feelings are too strong, and he realizes that the one he loves is waiting for him. Ultimately, he can't conquer his feeling because love is too strong of an emotion to suppress.
"fingers without hand" most likely means he's longing to hold someones hand. So he's "tearing at his string" or trying to break away from whatever is holding him back. This is one of the lyrics I was unsure about, but "We have a poison plan, it's more than a bad dream." might mean that he's sabotaging himself without realizing the severity of the consequences.
I think it's just a beautiful song about how nobody wants to be alone, and love is more important than material possessions.
My interpretation is probably far from what was intended when it was written.
