Morning Sickness Lyrics
Been calling for days
My searches are safe
As you woke up sick
For the second month today
Oh I don't know if they
Don't know if it's right
And you can't seem to tell me
If you're alright
Patience, oh patience, please
Take your time with me
When you thought
Yeah you thought we were high
No clue
That there ain't no way that this could work
What about your plans?
Will they all get fucked up?
There ain't no way in Hell
That this is gonna work
Patience, oh patience, please
Take your time with me
"It's my body, boy
Not your body, look here
For Christ's sakes we're just kids"
You didn't wanna do it alone
But who's to say you do it alone?
"It's my body, boy
Not your body, look here
For Christ's sakes we're just kids"
You didn't wanna do it alone
But who's to say you do it alone?
You said besides the decision
Well it was yours to make an angel
That's not fair, that's not fair
Let's be fair
So patience, oh patience, please
Take your time with me
"It's my body, boy
Not your body, look here
For Christ's sakes we're just kids"
You didn't wanna do it alone
But who's to say you do it alone?
"It's my body, boy
Not your body, look here
For Christ's sakes we're just kids"
You didn't wanna do it alone
But who's to say you do it alone?
Alone
Alone
(Both in your rule book and your room)
"It's my body, boy
Not your body, look here"

By far one of my favorite song by them. It's just so powerful in the lyrics and the beat.
I think its about an abortion. She didnt want to tell him about the child or even what the child because they were too young.
Definitely on my my favourite TBS songs too. It has to be one of their most emotional and poignant songs, I have no idea why it was left out of the album. Maybe it was just a bit too intense. The commentary on the bonus disc is interesting - they don't really talk about the meaning much.

Not sure it's about an abortion but definitely the realisation of a pregnancy and not knowing what to do - the girl obviously arguing it's her body and her decision "to make an angel", although the outcome isn't clear.

I don't think it's about pregnancy like I think it's about withdraw. We all know Adam has been on drugs and he has to have met some pretty messed up people I think this is about someone he was close to trying to come off a drug. To me the whole "It's my body boy not your body" thing is like I am going through all the sickness and pain not you so you shouldn't be trying to boss me around and tell me how to handle this we are just kids so you don't know..... And the womb is where something is created so if they are both in that person's womb they are being created. Read through the lyrics with withdraw in mind and you will see more similarities.
Well.. it is 100% about pregnancy. The version that made the album "you got me" talks about pregnancy also. Adam has even said on stage that it is one of the most honest songs he ever wrote. Considering that his now wife, got pregnant just a few short months after they had been dating it would make sense.

Directly deals with the seriousness of having a child, and being on tour and in a band making a living.

"you didn't want to do it alone"
"you didn't want to do it alone"
Again...
Again I am sure his wife was worried that everything would be left up to her, and hence why she perhaps was considering abortion.. "Its my body boy, not your body boy"
A man really has no say if a women wants a abortion, they can have one. Thats why.. "its not fair, its not fair, lets be fair.." would make sense.
As far as I can tell Adam has been done with drugs for a while now. The entire band has grown up and hence why they are singing about more serious things.
it has to do with drug addiction, it is a sequal track to "didn't see that coming"
Am I the only person that thinks this song is about why his relationship with Chantelle DuPree ended? They were just about to get married and then the wedding was called off. It would make sense that she didn't want to have a child at the height of her success. "What about your plans? Well they'd all get fucked up? There ain't no way in Hell That this is gonna work" I can understand why she would feel that it wouldn't work - two busy, touring parents and she felt that she would get the raw end of the deal and he would go off and tour and she would do it all alone. Obviously he tried to convince her otherwise.
I don't believe it is about his wife and child now as I feel that it is pretty obvious that the end result was an abortion. When you listen to the song, you can hear the pain in his voice. I doubt he would sound like that if there was a happy outcome. Also, I don't believe that he would have written a song about his now-wife considering having an abortion whilst pregnant with his now very alive son. How much would that screw up his son? It may also explain why he and his wife decided to have their son and how happy he seemed to be after this had happened not too long beforehand.
I may be completely off the mark, but I don't think I am.
@RG1989 If this song is autobiographical it may be unfair to speculate on the identity of the pregnant girlfriend (assuming that is indeed what it's about). My own opinion is that it's more likely to be about an earlier relationship and not about Chauntelle who, like Adam, was in her mid-twenties when they got engaged then split up. The line "for Christ's sakes we're just kids" suggests to me a teenage couple. As you mentioned, the pain in his voice does sound very real so I get the feeling this song is personal to him, but that's just conjecture: it...
