I really like this song, so sort of peaceful but at the same time desperate and sad and happy haha...that's the junk of the heart :P

I think the song is about jeaolusy: " So hard to leave you all alone" ....The singer likes this girl and wants to make her happy but he feels unsure of the seriousness of her feelings, cause she is a "lover of the wild" ...so he keeps pissing on her but nothing makes her shatter, she's a joker of the heart and he wonders if she loves him ("are you mine?")

Every time I hear this song I'm reminded of the time I gave a friend of mine a ride to school. We hadn't spoken in two years, but I saw him walking and I offered to pick him up. It was awkward and quiet at first because we'd always wanted to be more than friends but never were. I put my music on shuffle and this song came on and I remember he asked me if I liked The Kooks. I suppose he was a fan himself and although I kept my eyes on the road, through the corner of my eye I could see him just sort of looking at me in a way he never had before.

Also....it's not "what used to that, but you aren't me"....It's "What use to that, to you and me"

i can quite relate to this. i have a boy friend who's in a long-term dull relationship and i'm pretty sure it's not like i'm falling in love or anything but i do care about him and i want to make him happy because he always seems so depressed
