This song pretty much speaks for itself. It's about a girl that went away to college and is just getting drunk and being a whore instead of doing what she should be with her life lol
It seems to me that he is trying to seem like he is really critical and unsympathetic, but is actually truly hurting with compassion to see a girl have no respect for herself.
This song speaks for itself really but I am currently going through a similar phase, so I feel I could lay my interpretation of his attitude for this song.
Its really true what they say about college, if youre an outgoing person who wants to party you WILL party. and it will fuck you up. I've always stayed stray of that stuff, but 99% of my friends didn't and over half of them already dropped out of college and the other half got shit for grades cause of the hang overs and late parties and fraternity events and what not.
I think he sees this girl (that he likes) and knows she is that type, as if he cant really trust her and hes embracing himself for the pain of losing her and watching her potentially ruin her life.
I also look at when he said "I came here against my will" as he didn't ever want that but she doesnt care and is doing what she wants against him. So he arrived at this situation against his will.
I find alot of meaning in this song personally, such a great writer.
The lyrics of this song are easy to criticize if you don't read between the lines. I think he's trying to say that the girl(s) he's writing about doesn't realize that she's better than the careless decisions she's making.
I relate to the song in a lot of ways and I give major props to Cannon - he's a way better writer than he gets credit for.
