Just from what I've seen on the internet, no one has thought about this. I strongly believe The Trap was written about being a fruit growing in a plant.
"Whispered leaves on swaying trees and Mysteries define" refers to the plant and its offspring being born and the fruit discovering what it doesn't understand
"Summer nights of endless light Remind us of the line that's Yours & Mine" refers to the plant going through cell devision over the span of sometime and the fruit suddenly just knowing that they're in a plant through it all being a hivemind
"Thoughts of green and breezes mean I'm growing from a stem" more of the fruit discovering it's mother
"Missing dirt on my T-shirt You'll move a little closer but the moving isn't over if it's" This is where Zubes threw us all off, humanizing the lyrics by using "T-shirt". This is obviously meaning that there is missing dirt on the fruit's exterior because it's no longer underground. "Youll move a little closer" as in other fruit following behind
"Them & You & Me Stringing electricity And the rest of it is waiting under When it overflows Taking us where no one knows We remember when we fell into the trap" The fruit is almost saying "We're all stringing ourselves together, building up energy through photosynthesis. More of us are to come from the underground womb and when we've reached our maximum occupancy, we'll start falling from this plant onto the world" and then remembering they're trapped. they have memories that were passed down through generations of growing and growing just to rot into the earth's crust and become the embodiment of its parent. The insipid cycle is what the trap really is.
The rest of the song somewhat follows this take, but i'm not sure entirely. feel free to add to this theory.
