Liberation

First off, just a couple of quick corrections to the lyrics. I have to booklet right in front of me, and the chorus goes:

I found the way, and I'll return here soon I have to see those who do not know Rest in peace, I'm coming for you And I will be there I will be with you tonight

I think the song really has two meanings of sorts, though one of them is somewhat muddled to me due to the line "I have to see those who do not know". The meaning that I see as somewhat muddled is the one regarding love. The majority of the song seems focused on this specific meaning, though what exactly it is getting at, I'm not sure.

There does seems to be a sort of sub-meaning, too. This is mostly evident in the second verse and maybe the first chorus. It seems to be essentially stating "I'm here to live my life, and I'm here to make a difference". Perhaps he intends to live his life through his love for some other, and he intends to make a difference through that. Perhaps they are experiencing some hardships, and he intends to "Liberate" them, so to speak.

I love the song itself. I absolutely love it when metal bands can write such amazing soft songs, and this is easily one of my favorites. I especially love the way all the sounds just well up in the chorus, I actually find it somewhat difficult to not sing along at times.

Since i heard Only for the weak which was the first time i heard In Flames at all i knew i had found a group where i could expect great music from. since then i have only found more and more and the album Sounds of a playground fading sort of becomes the pinnacle of their music so far in my eyes. The three songs i like the best is the song with the same name as the album, where the dead ships dwell and lastly Liberation.

As far as what i think this song is about, i'm not really sure, but it sounds as if its someone who has been through a rough time with someone they loved. Their loved one has caused them alot of pain and he has had to take the brunt of that pain, but now he has found out how to break them down and take them away from that pain. Its a song of hope basically.

why cant any of you idiots think of anything besides "uhh maybe its about a girl." just because thats about as deep as your thoughts go doesnt mean that all lyrics are about breakups and relationships. hes married and like 42, for fucks sake, you really think hes still writing lyrics about girls?

I know what it takes to break you "You know I never sleep" -- this specifically should mean evil/satan, who never sleeps, and can break possibly any man's psyche, if fate brings it so

"Just because you made them think --- Doesn't mean the world will fall into place" --- It's like when a religion's founder/leader is spreading how to liberate people from sin and let the world fall into place.

To put together the meaning of the rest is up to you based on these hints.

I recall there being illness and later death of a close person of someone in the band's family. Maybe it has to do with that.

I think it's about a girl he loved who died. And he wants to suicide to go see her again. Idk if that's relevant but that's wht it made me think about.
