to me it sounds like he killed someone (figuratively or literally) and he's expressing his guilt for it

It’s dark lyrically and Jake (Luhrs, vocalist) absolutely shreds his vocal chords on this song — I think it is one of the most diverse and strongest vocal performances he has ever given. This song also has the weirdest timed breakdowns on the entire album. We dare you to figure it out!"
he talks about how he guilty of sometimes not going to God and cutting him out hes also talking about Jesus Christ and how he feels he shouldve been the one to die. and how pain sometimes overcomes us in hard times
