its amazing how far music can come.. 24 years after it released and its one of the most heartfelt songs ive heard
Don't you cherish me to sleep
Oh
Never keep your eyelids clipped
Hold me for the pops and clicks
I was only for the father's crib
Hair, old, long along
Your neck onto your shoulder blades
Oh
Always keep that message taped
Cross your breasts you won't erase
I was only for your very space
Hip, under nothing
Propped up by your other one
Face 'way from the sun
Just have to keep a dialogue
Teach our bodies, haunt the cause
I was only trying to spell a loss
Joy, it's all founded
Pincher with the skin inside
Oh
You pinned me with your black sphere eyes
You know that all the rope's untied
I was only for to die beside
So it's storming on the lake
Little waves our bodies break
There's a fire going out
But there's really nothing to the south
Swollen orange and light let through
Your one-piece swimmer stuck to you
Sold, I'm ever
Open ears and open eyes
Oh
Wake up to your starboard bride
Who goes in and then stays inside
Oh, the demons come, they can subside
Oh
Never keep your eyelids clipped
Hold me for the pops and clicks
I was only for the father's crib
Hair, old, long along
Your neck onto your shoulder blades
Oh
Always keep that message taped
Cross your breasts you won't erase
I was only for your very space
Hip, under nothing
Propped up by your other one
Face 'way from the sun
Just have to keep a dialogue
Teach our bodies, haunt the cause
I was only trying to spell a loss
Joy, it's all founded
Pincher with the skin inside
Oh
You pinned me with your black sphere eyes
You know that all the rope's untied
I was only for to die beside
So it's storming on the lake
Little waves our bodies break
There's a fire going out
But there's really nothing to the south
Swollen orange and light let through
Your one-piece swimmer stuck to you
Sold, I'm ever
Open ears and open eyes
Oh
Wake up to your starboard bride
Who goes in and then stays inside
Oh, the demons come, they can subside

Like a lot of the other comments are saying, I think this mainly about voyeurism. If the song was about his girlfriend, then why would he use the word spy. If you are a spy it means you shouldn't be caught, that is kind of the whole point, and if you are a voyeur, the whole point of the pleasure you get from it, is the fact that the other people don't know you are watching them. See a bit of a connection there?

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
This is one of the most thinly veiled Christian songs I've ever heard. Calgary = Calvary.
Father...die beside...waves on a lake....ropes untied???
Biblical allusions everywhere.
Wake up to your starboard bride? Mary Magdalene! Who is rumored to be Jesus's wife. Demons?
What goes in [the tomb] and stays inside....
If you read it within the context of the crucifixion and resurrection, the song makes incredible sense.
Nice catch...! I hear it fresh now!<br /> <br /> That said, I think here this usage is a metaphor in rather brilliant song multi-layered in metaphors. There is a current also of bitter love, cynical & used. <br /> <br /> There are also lines that allow themselves to be quite specific about some situation.
Oh my, get a grip. You are so far off. I bet you see Christian references in a a lot of things, don't you?
lostatlimbo - if you want to hate, stay away. It's pretty much accepted that this song has religious allusions. Offer an opinion, not hate. Damn!
There are a few liens. What grabbed me in the religious aspect was:<br /> <br /> <br /> "So there's a storm on the lake,<br /> little waves, our bodies break."<br /> <br /> a reference to Peter walking on water with Jesus?
Why is everybody so quick to ascribe religious context to songs?? Do we even know if Justin's a Christian? There's a lot in music would lead me to believe otherwise. I don't buy the religion thing anyway.
