He's talking about all the girls he has/was/or is in love with and that his desire will even push him to cheating/breaking up with. That's how I see it anyways. He's cheated/ or broken enough hearts and made enough enemies.
@YTG I agree completely. He's reflecting on his past actions with relationships being promiscuous or maybe he did it the right way and broke up first, just to move on. Probably not. And that's just an honest look at this person's life which is very real to talk about.

I don't really know what he's talking about but I love the tune and I love the bit that goes "Oh, don't you think that people are the strangest things?" it's such a lovely song to relax to.
To me, dsign of desire means trying to consciously choose who you love. Trying to hard and not followig your instincts. It causes pain and sadness. Listen to the quiet voice of your instincts and be honest to yourself. He's learned this the hard way after a lot of pain.
