Slow Slow Tune Lyrics
Slow, not the meter of today
But I'm not singing for now anyway
This slow, slow tune.
You, somewhere in the future listening
I hope the present for you's glistening
With notes that ring so true
This slow slow tune
Slow, slow tune.
Slow, daddy's playing just for you
The tempo's right, I'm in a mellow mood
This slow, slow tune.
Gotta radiate the gold
Gotta radiate the gold
Gotta radiate the gold
Whoooo, ooooo
True, daddy's singing just for you
Do you hear him baby anymore?
Now that you've outgrown this slow, slow tune.
Grown, with a meter all your own
You decide the pace, you set the tone
The future now you own.
This slow, slow tune
Slow, slow tune.
But I'm not singing for now anyway
This slow, slow tune.
I hope the present for you's glistening
With notes that ring so true
This slow slow tune
Slow, slow tune.
The tempo's right, I'm in a mellow mood
This slow, slow tune.
Gotta radiate the gold
Gotta radiate the gold
Whoooo, ooooo
Do you hear him baby anymore?
Now that you've outgrown this slow, slow tune.
You decide the pace, you set the tone
The future now you own.
This slow, slow tune
Slow, slow tune.

I think it's pretty obviously "Got to radiate the gold" and not "God radiate the gold". I think we need a new version of the lyrics because whoever did this wasn't listening very well.
Agreed. That was terrible. No offense.

@Mac3030 Definitely. I was already listening to the song when I came to this website. I was at the part where Jim says, "Grown, with a meter all your own." I looked at the lyrics to find that line and I didn't see it. It should be changed. I've always remembered that line because it's so original. What a great idea! To use meter, or tempo, as an analogy for age and the independence that comes and goes with it. Genius!

After all the guitar freakouts from the perfect new album Circuital fade out (as if that could ever happen), this bittersweet paean to fatherhood will stand out in my mind. The lyrics are some of the most beautiful MMJ have ever written, in my humble opinion, and I can´t stop listening to it! This could double as a passing of the torch, so to speak, to a future generation.
I am fairly certain that instead of "The temple's right, I'm in a mellow moon" it should be "The tempo's right, I'm in a mellow mood". Could be wrong but seems more fitting. Beautiful song.
@halesdd You're right.

I'd like to see some comments about the lyric, "Gotta radiate the gold." If I thought about it long enough I might be able to come up with a possible meaning. Help me out folks.
