Sister Wife Lyrics
So one thing led to another
You were calling her a lover
Her brothers her brother
Yeah if you want me to do it, I
guess that I'll do it, but
I'm telling you
One wrong move and yeah we're through
Chorus x 2
Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my night
You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do
Damn man kick out the likeness
The view is the prophet
I don't think you got this
Yeah holy as our father
I'd rather not bother, I
and I'm telling you
One wrong move and we're through
Chorus x 2
Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my night
You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do
I'm stuck with two
I'm stuck with you
I'm stuck with two
I'm stuck with
Chorus x 2
Hey there sister wife
Get the hell out it's my night
You don't know the way to his heart
Like I do

// Pretty sure she alternates between "life" and "night" in the chorus; either way, it is definitely about polygamy.
As for the video, the one snake and one real vs one fake cat is definitely representative of a phallus, the first wife, and the second wife. The snake around Alex's neck represents that she's the first, original wife. The fake cat spewing blood on her, to me, represents a challenge; that's a representation of the sister character, who is related to Alex's character by blood first and by marriage second, so spraying the blood in her face represents reminding Alex of their familial tie (you know, the whole 'we're siblings so you have to love me') while also ending it. It's as if to say, "If our blood relationship prevents this, then I'll get rid of it."
I think the color of the cats has less to do with premarital purity than to highlight that they're two brides: the idea that "one thing led to another" and "calling her our lover" says it was a marriage of passion, not arrangement. It's also indicated by the fact that the entire video is a metaphor for homewrecking. The place is destroyed through the course of it, indicating that what once was a lovely home is now being ripped in two by the addition of this sister wife.
too many big words and long sentences. i think its about too many people involved in a relationship. nuff said

This is a totally flawless interpretation. Really great job!

It's important to mention that a lot of the elements of the music video (the kimono, the white cats, the cat gushing blood) are an homage to Nobohiko Obayashi's 1977 film "House" (sometimes spelled "Hausu"). Sooooo the imagery in the video may just be an homage, or they COULD be double entendres.
Indeed! The first time I watched it I thought it was merely a Hausu homage and didn't see the underlying sexual meaning.

i read this book calles Peony in love by lisa see which made this song very clear to me from the beginning. In china, if a widower gets married, his second wife is a sister wife of his first. The second wife prays and does rituals to be on good terms with her sister wife so the first wofe's soul doesnt "haunt" her or torment her. because whatever the second wife does with the husband the first (sister) wife also experiences it. Read the lyrics again and see :) I also reccomend the book its amazing!
Did anyone watch the music video? Did anyone notice the snake (phallic symbol??) "hunting" the cat (pussy?)?! I think that these lyrics and the video were saying how the character Alex Winston played in the song and corresponding music video was talked into being a sister wife by her husband(obviously). but did anyone notice the snake coiled around her neck? I think that says that Alex is more experienced in bed than the other sister wife, hence the white cat spewing blood, representing a pure, young, freshly menstruating girl, who was likely brought up in a polygamist family, rushed into a polygamist marriage, and is being a grubby bitch and the two compete for their husband's affection. anyhow, in short, I think that this song a polygamy parody. I dont know about the cart part. maybe it was just meant to be weird.
When people get in the way of relationships, family, friends and you're like fuck off I wanna have fun! That's what this song reminds me of.
