I've looked you right in the face
And I have told the worst lies
I've put my arms around you
And felt nothing at all
I've stolen tasteless bread
I've salted hundreds of cities, paint them red
I've taken a thousand miles and
I'll take a thousand more until you say

You can't bully me
You can't make me stay
You won't change
I hear your whispers calling me
I will turn away (turn away)
Just like a hunter you will prey
Prey on me

And the world will let you hang
I just made a pact with them
To always drop you where you land
I'll fight from my way and
I'll say that I've changed and
I'll try to convince you, you should stay
Whatever your goal, I'll be here
Making sure you fail

You can't bully me
You can't make me stay
You won't change
I hear your whispers calling me
I will turn away (turn away)
Just like a hunter you will prey
Prey on me (prey on me, prey on me, prey)

These seven years have opened my eyes
But I don't want you living all again
You

You can't bully me
You can't make me stay
You'll never change
I hear your whispers calling me
I will turn away (I will turn away)
Just like a hunter you will prey
Prey on me

Unfaithful, I have been
Loyalty, I have none
No respect, no passion
I'm out to find it

Few small corrections from the book -

I've looked you right in the face and I have told the worst lies. I've put my arms around you and felt nothing at all. I've stolen tasteless bread, I've assaulted hundreds of cities, paint them red. I've taken a thousand miles, and I'll take a thousand more until you say:

"You can't bully me, you can't make me stay, you won't change. I hear your whispers calling me, I will turn away. Just like a hunter you will prey, prey on me."

And the world will let you hang. I just made a pact with them to always drop you where you land. I'll fight for my way, and I'll say that I've changed, I'll try to convince you you should stay. Wherever you go I'll be there, making sure you fail.

"You can't bully me, you can't make me stay, you won't change. I hear your whispers calling me, I will turn away. Just like a hunter you will prey, prey on me. These 7 years have opened my eyes, but I don't want to live it all again."

"Ungrateful", I have been. "Loyalty", I have none. "No respect", "no passion", "Unmotivating".

I LOVE this song. It is definitely my new favorite. My husband and I are going through a rough time right now and this song is so similar to a lot of my feelings it is almost creepy! Love, love, love it!!

This song really does seem to be about their old record label. The titles says "liveS" with an "s".

It also says "7 years" which would make sense.

I'm sure there are other things here as well.

Shane: "This is one of those songs that just starts with an awesome guitar riff and goes from there. Neil [Boshart, guitar] was noodling around at practice, played something and right away I was like, “Dude, that is awesome!” Next thing I know, after a couple hours, we had all the music finished. Writing vocals over that riff was hard, because I wanted the guitar part to sing on its own and not have the vocals get in its way, or vice versa. I remember when we recorded the original demo for this, we had a huge argument for an hour over a single note at the end. We couldn't agree on which note should go over one of the harmonies. Looking back, it was so silly, but we definitely are perfectionists even with things no one would probably ever notice."

And they both said that it was about their past experiences in the music industry --> with their previous label.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
