Every Night My Teeth Are Falling Out Lyrics

One bad night I'll hold the glass until the glass can hold me down,
And one bad night I'll spill and spill until my feet begin to drown.
One bad night I'll hear you calling me to help you not pass out.

You and I, divine but not devout,
Every night my teeth are falling out.

One dumb night I'll make a point to take an old verboten route,
And one dumb night I'll take you out, to the bar we’ve both blacked out.
One dumb night two bad decisions don't divide to cancel out.

You and I, divorced but not devout,
Every night my teeth are falling out.

Try it, try it, try it,
Try it, try it, try it, try it,
Get your jaw off the floor.

According to psychology, if you have dreams about your teeth falling out, those dreams are somehow related to sex, or wanting sex.

"You and I divorce, but not devout Every night my teeth are falling out"

I think the song is about him still wanting a sexual relationship with his ex-wife/girlfriend.

Definitely one of the highlights from Burst Apart. It sounds very urgent like it's about some sort of unsustainable life.

the moment i heard the title, i knew he was talking about dreaming. and when you dream of your teeth falling out, it generally means that the teeth reflect your anxieties on what others think of you, (or just anxieties in general).

but i totally understand @pumkinhed's view on this, as well.:)

i had a theory worked out based upon the line being "get control of the floor".

since the website officially says it's "get your jaw off the floor", there goes my theory.

still a lovely song.

This song is brilliant. To me it seems like it's about a relationship that continues on after the couple have broken up. The first stanza is clearly referring to being drunk and her calling him drunk. The line "You and I, divine but not devout" to me says the relationship was wonderful but they can't seem to stay committed to each other. "You and I, divorced but not devout" seems to be saying the opposite that even though they have split the aren't committed to staying apart either.
