Lunar Wilderness Lyrics
Prospect #1
Many days and fewer nights... so I'm told.
I've lost my time years ago... so I'm told.
The explaining. The whispered words.
This will be the hardest part... so I'm told.
I wish my mind would work... unfold.
The explaining. The whispered words.
The front doors opened to the look of death. Will this make sense? Will this be comforting at all?
The questions dive in day and and night. Nothing we can do. Nothing I can do.
Twists and turns must be answered.
I hit land... so it seems.
The dirt chokes up my legs... strong air then shoots down my throat.
Sensory overload in an instant of sense.
Charting through the old water that I pushed away to drown.
Into another.
To find and be found.
This is what I've set out to do. Where is this door?
Prospect #2
The constant movement of my eyes. I can feel but I can't open the lids. The back of my skin is scarred, torn and broken.
A reflection of what I've seen. (What have I become?)
They let these people recreate. Maybe I should have ended it all. Too late?
Moving forward is a must.
Dig deep.
Commence sleep inside sleep.
Silence.
(An out of focus picture brings up a familiar scenario. Three people fill the room. There seems to be a fourth, but very small. We are speaking about some sort of mission. My mouth won't stop moving... talking way too much. Even through the blur I can feel their stares. This one sided discussion seems to be about what I am preventing. Is this a sign? Too late... I've said it before. The people then disappear. I look about and the western sky seems to be red... alone. I can smell burning flesh... scorched life. I turn around and the face of death stares so grim that the lids finally open...)
I'm close... very close. But something isn't right.
A horrifying realization is swept over me.
Home. The empty space of home.
All I've known is gone. All I've loved is lost.
Silence.

Holy Jesus I get it. Tommy said that this album would contain two characters, connected in a way, across universe/space/time. Now in Lost Perfection A), we see the lines
"This party of four includes three grown adults and myself. The first adult is shy and wise enough, To keep the second one away from conversation. They're on a mission. Gender is not recognized. The third adult is a male and talks too much."
And Here, we see "(An out of focus picture brings up a familiar scenario. Three people fill the room. There seems to be a fourth, but very small. We are speaking about some sort of mission. My mouth won't stop moving... talking way too much. Even through the blur I can feel their stares. This one sided discussion seems to be about what I am preventing. Is this a sign? Too late... Now, the narrator of Lost Perfection, is the "Fourth, but very small" person talked about in Lunar Wilderness. The Narrator of Lunar Wilderness is the third person who 'talks too much' from Lost Perfection. The narrator of Lunar Wilderness has attempted to build a vessel to bring him back to prevent the end of the world, and he is seen here discussing it with the three other men introduced so long ago in The Silent Circus. And we can see here that he has failed his mission, and the end of the world proceeds as it had. I believe though that this was not a true time machine he built, but instead a sort of "Projection" machine. He didn't literally go back to the past, but projected himself there. He can interact with and change the past, but is truly stuck inside this machine in the present time, and we can see him exiting the projection here at the end of the song.
Amazing! I think you are right, Drowning. The headless person from Prequel to the Sequel has a child from one of her lovers; the new born is mentioned at the end. Then, in Lost Perfection, the new born is among the three lovers who are apparently planning how to save the world (the headless lover). Who are Prospect 1 and Prospect 2? Maybe Prospect 1 and Prospect 2 are different courses of action that the new born can take. Prospect 2, like you said, is the newborn going back in time to change things and save the world....

Well at least we know who the two people are now. Prospect #1 is the person from Swim to the Moon and Prospect #2 appears to be the person heading the mission from Lost Perfection A.

So much for a two concept album series. More like 4.

this is so exciting.
this is so exciting.
This story needs to be written into a novel.
Prequel to the Sequel:
The Lady on the Hill (Mother Nature) creates The Headless Person (Earth). The Headless Person finds the love of 3 others (Humanity) to create a symbiotic relationship. The 3 Lovers strip away the life of The Headless Person, in a way that will eventually destroy The Headless Person.
Lost Perfection (The Sequel):
A scenario in which the 3 Lovers are in a room with the offspring of The Headless Lover and themselves. The new born notices the 3 Lovers conversing and each has noticeable differences. There is talk about a "mission" - this mission is the events that will take place in The Parallax. Before anything can happen The Headless Person dies.
Lunar Wilderness (Same/Alternate/Projected Timeline as Lost Perfection):
Revolving around one of the 3 Lovers, time and space is used to create a way to fix what has happened to the world. A device is built and there is an attempt to go back and change the course of existence, ultimately leading to failure.
There is a whole other aspect to The Parallax that will tie in with this story, although it is set in a different plain of existence. Everything will come together in Part II.
Continuing my idea:
Prospect 1: He's lost time on this island. Evidence from the words state he actually is on the moon, and not an island. His boat was a ship and he was stranded on the moon. He loses his way and he doesn't know what to do with himself.
Prospect 2: He's stuck in hypersleep and can't open his eyes. He's no longer in control and he's regretting the choices he's made. He could have stopped what was happening.
The parenthesis are almost a direct excerpt from Lost Perfection A + B in which the world is basically ending in a fire.
He manages to open his eyes and wake from the hypersleep; but it's too late. The world is desolate and he is alone. Everyone he ever loved is gone and he will die alone.
I'd love for some criticism and other ideas to perfect the story.
Prospect 1: (The Baby born with the end of the world), sent on a mission (the one the two adults were discussing?) still not a defined gender (correct me if I'm wrong) Devises a method of communicating outside (not sure if being experimented on (as proposed by someone else) or if imperfect improper direction was for the devise used to communicate with others, I think the latter, he/she is all alone and now they've found him/her) Who they are is still undefined, although I think it might be Prospect 2... It could be another anonymous bunch of humans who the guys haven't introduced yet as well (night 4 they come back...they being the waves...they being a group of scientists on a different planet (yes...I dismissed this, but I'm not saying I can't be wrong when I do dismiss it, just a proposal)...
Prospect 2: He's stuck in hypersleep, reflecting on the past before the end of the world, trying to affect it. He talks much about changing things, the people around him, but secretly is jealous of their careless lifestyles. However, this time in this familiar world, he is asleep, in a vessel of some kind now, after the end of the world. Possibly he too is drifting through space, and even when he opens his eyes, he is reflecting on the fact that his home is now empty, not the fact that he is there alone. (I think he's on his way to find prospect 1 at the end of the album) As he's just finished reflecting on everything that's happened, including releasing the other one into space to find a better home. ("there seems to be a fourth, but very small") Just as the world is ending I think he really comes to the realization that the vessel was really not helping him go back in time, it just put him to sleep where he could reflect upon his past... (he was in a sort of dreamy "I can change the world if I try, omnipotent as to what will happen (kind of like when Bill Murray thought he was God in groundhog day...lol I know they weren't thinking of that...) state, but really he's just found prospect 1?) Of course this vessel may be a second ship .
Sorry if the thoughts there are a bit scattered...
I don't think there are any instances of actual time travel, just self (and outerself) reflection in the state of travel. Both are dealing with personal issues as to whether they fit the idea of what being human should be, in a perfect sense. (and because this is an impossible feat, find themselves falling short, both in helping others in their pasts, which they must learn to grow from, and in who they are)
I think, and this sis even more speculative than anything else up there...that the two will meet and devise a plan to fix their mistakes of the past, and possibly save humanity. Not sure if they'll bring the idea of time travel in, perhaps self reflection here is a foreshadowing to the inevitable time traveling to save humanity.
Again, sorry it's so much to read, and maybe redundant, or just wrong, in parts. But these are my thoughts on the album.
Prospect 1 is the guy from Swim to the Moon. In Swim to the Moon, he's fed up with life and gets on raft and floats out on the sea. In this song, he lands on a weird island with weird animals and stuff on it (I believe that is what Paul said.) Prospect 2 is a guy that lives thousands of light years away from Earth. His planet is similar to Earth and the people are destroying the planet. The people of his planet heard of Earth and Prospect #2 is sent to check it out. On his way home, he discovers that his home planet has just destroyed itself hence the lyrics: "Home. The empty space of home. All I've known is gone. All I've loved is lost." Somewhere along the lines, Prospects 1 and 2 become aware of each other and in the next album, they will meet.
