Not Your Fault

Here he is saying that he thinks that she is amazing and that he is a joke that could never compare. This is like him saying that he is not worthy of her, and he doesn't understand why she still loves him, because he's not good enough for her in his own mind.

"This love found us now I see it. This love up down. Please believe."

He is saying that he thinks that they were meant to be together, and he saw it to late and that he he's begging her to stay with him.

"Baby, when I'm yellin' at you, It's not your fault"

He is saying that he has an anger issue, or perhaps a split personality, and he can't control himself, and wishes that he could, but all he can do is to tell her afterward that it wasn't her fault.

"It's not your fault, yeah and Baby cuz I'm crazy for you,"

He's telling her that he loves her, and that just because he loves her does not make it her fault that he isn't alright in the head and that all of his problems are not her doing.

"It's not your fault It's not your fault, yeah Maybe I'm a little confused,"

He tells her that he's trying to straighten out his life, and nothing is fitting into place or making any sense.

"It's not your fault It's not your fault, yeah and Baby, it a wonderful news. It's not your fault It's not your fault, yeah"

He's apologizing and telling her that she doesn't have to feel bad, because it simply is not her fault that he is crazy.

"Oh, it's not that you should care. I just wanted you to know."

He knows that he does not deserve her forgiveness, but he's asking for it anyway.

"I'm a fight with myself till I'm bleeding. Just a taste of your skin starts the healing. Anyone from my past get your ammo. Find my sun in the dark side of my shadow."

He is saying that the two halves of him, his two personalities, the one that would yell at her, and the one that would do anything to keep her are at war. He is fighting with himself, and the only thing that can save him is her. He needs his friends- anyone from his past- to -get their ammo- and help him, the good part of him, which is the sun save himself from the shadow that is his unkind self.

This is not only an apology, but a plea for help from the only person that can help him, and he hopes beyond all reason that she will not hate him, even though he deserves it, because as he says, it's not her fault, and that means that it is his. He wants her to love him, and hopes it's not to late.

That's what I think, because of a personal experience I happened to have had quite recently, I know how he feels, that he needs help saving the sun from the shadow.

I feel like the narrator of this song is struggling with mixed emotions. Contrary to most commentators, I do not think he is abusive. With the words "Baby when I'm Yellin' at you, it's not your fault," He isn't literally yelling at the object of his affection, rather he's fighting with himself.

For example when he says "She's a ten, I'm a joke in my own mind," he's saying that he's insecure and doesn't feel worthy of her.

Also, if you've seen the music video, I believe it is a metaphor for the demons that plague his own mind and keep him from giving himself completely to his lover...But in the end he defeats them and can be with her.

I could totally just be over analyzing this though:p

This is an insecure control freak's ballad to the poor girl that is with him.

Song's about a tormented dude obsessed with someone and their rocky relationship. Clearly he doesn't think very highly of himself, but worships this chippie. She also seems to be quite a tease with the line "She still loves to dance with my punchlines". But the dude doesn't hold it against her because he says it's not your fault a million times in the song.

It's an abusive relationship. My passive-aggressive (deservedly estranged) guy identifies with AWOL to a "very sad" TEE! He used to sing this song to me...the only one he EVER sang out loud to me in 2 years...he's as crazy as the lead...

Everyone is saying it's about the singer, which it sort of is, but he is the perfectly sane one in the relationship and the focus of the song is the girl and her "quirks".

The girl is certainly special and the guy has very strong feelings for her, but she's very shy, timid and reserved to the point of it being mental.

This love up down. Please believe.

He is doing everything in his power to make her love him and realize that everything is going to be ok without coming on too strong.

Oh, it's not that you should care. I just wanted you to know.

He is trying to get her to open up to the world more and be more trusting of it's inhabitants.
