Our Hearts Are Wrong Lyrics

hate has brought me up
the stairs into your house
I'll not let hate be the one
to make me naked for you

my self-esteem
is heating up the room
you're intimidating as all hell
but I ain't scared of you

I know how you work
I am just like you
no matter what you say
our hearts are wrong
our hearts are wrong

love has brought me down
like love's been known to do
I try to deny with all my heart
that I'm in love with you

I don't really care
you knew that's what I'd say
the only time I miss you
is every single day

I know how you work
I am just like you
no matter what you say
our hearts are wrong
our hearts are wrong

our hearts are wrong
our hearts are wrong

I know how you work
I am just like you
no matter what you say
our hearts are wrong
our hearts are wrong

our hearts are wrong
our hearts are wrong

This is such a gorgeous song. It deserves a lot of attention but I kind of want to keep it for myself.

Lyric Correction

It's an amusing (rather self-explanatory song); hearts are never wrong. Overthinking is wrong. When we overthink something we create spider webs and ghosts and scary villians and all that other crap that's a real downer. When a heart is pure, it is never wrong. I like the song and artist, just not the lyrics. Hey, two out of three ain't bad ;)

I've always read this song as two people who were once in a relationship but are no longer. "Hate has brought me up the stairs into your house I'll not let hate be the one to make me naked for you" Is like when you go and see the person because you're still secretly interested in them, but they also make you angry/upset because you've hurt one another in a deep way. "My self-esteem is heating up the room you're intimidating as all hell but I ain't scared of you" Is like trying really hard to seem unfazed by what's going on in the interaction, still feeling nerves of their opinions of you, but also not caring. "I know how you work I am just like you no matter what you say our hearts are wrong our hearts are wrong" They've been together, they know what makes each other tick, and they can both sense something inside each other, and they need to use the excuse of saying no this is wrong, because they'll just hurt each other. Kind of like "You're gonna hurt me if I don't hurt you, this is the nature of us."

My Interpretation

Just heard this song today for the first time, on an episode of Parenthood. Loved it. But this is why I love music. Because the situations in your life might make you interpret lyrics differently. I see this song as two people who have a love/hate relationship. Who despite everything should be together, who are crazy attracted to each other , can't say no to sexual desire. But circumstances, "intimidating" back grounds ..shouldn't be together according to everyone else, when deep down he's that one person you miss every single day. he's that one you will ALWAYS love. Their hearts are wrong for saying no when they should be saying yes!
