Avalanches Lyrics
We danced in the snow
Of a crystal December
In the dying of our souls
Our bodies were the only answer
Drunken survivors
Of a Christian nation
Of the media and hate
The governments and slaves
Avalanches of the violent disharmony
From the coma of OK have awoken me
In the cover-up of disgraceful abuses
Avalanches of the violent disharmony
Emotional tolls
Ghettos and holes to remember
Of the poverty and the frauds
The bullies and the ego pretenders
So we danced in the snow
To the back of my GDR garden
In comedy delight, Immoral and divine
Avalanches of the violent disharmony
From the coma of OK have awoken me
In the cover-up of disgraceful abuses
Avalanches of the violent disharmony
Of a crystal December
In the dying of our souls
Our bodies were the only answer
Of a Christian nation
Of the media and hate
The governments and slaves
From the coma of OK have awoken me
In the cover-up of disgraceful abuses
Avalanches of the violent disharmony
Ghettos and holes to remember
Of the poverty and the frauds
The bullies and the ego pretenders
To the back of my GDR garden
In comedy delight, Immoral and divine
From the coma of OK have awoken me
In the cover-up of disgraceful abuses
Avalanches of the violent disharmony

Those lyrics I submitted above are directly from the VT vinyl sleeve, but contain a few errors I think: 'a coma' should be 'the coma', and 'ghettos and codes' should be 'ghettos and holes'.
I believe this song is about interwar german decadents society that Chris seems to be fascinated at (what is revealed several times on the album). 'In the dying of our souls our bodies were the only answer' - hedonism, nihilism, disobliging sex in the face of moral decay; references to the social situation at the time: poverty, feeling of helplessness, ruthless government; and finally obvious GDR reference. I think this doesn't come from any serious experience, this is just a imaginative voyage ninety years back, exactly to the place where he lives right now, to the times where the author and his perception of the world would fit perfectly.
Wow and WOW!! :)

This song has just made a married 37 year old man with 3 children...cry. And do you know what?.....I don't care what people think!!

This is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Utterly glorious.

Really outstanding, I remember the feeling hearing this for the first time on the vinyl. I think what was said about this possibly being an interpretation of the past where chris has been at, it's just so odd to see how some of these lyrics fit perfectly within my own world.
