Two Kinds Of Happiness Lyrics

Happiness is two different things,
What you take and then what you bring.
One is pleasure,
one's discipline,
one's devotion,
one's just a ring.

Desire and reward.
Long term and short term joy.
Don't waste your heart,
don't waste your heart.
One has nothing to do with the other...
And the world is all cousins not brothers

Hard to take you off of my love
one's an instant,
one takes some will.
One gives life,
and one makes you kill.
one's the means and ones for the end...

Desire and reward.
Long term and short term joy.
Don't waste your heart,
don't waste your heart.
One has nothing to do with the other...
and the world is all cousins not brothers

Don't you give in,
You're beginning.

I believe he is separating the aspects of love from lust. And he states that one should not give up their heart to lust. Love definitiely takes more time (to grow) and it's more difficult to sustain, but the rewards are much greater. In the song, he's beginning to understand why it is more important to love than to merely lust. He's "beginning" to get it...

Happiness is two different things: what you take, and then what you bring. One's the pleasure, one is the pain. One's a poster, and one's just a ring.

(I think this is a more acurrate first verse.)

I know we are all trying to figure it out right now, as it just came out,

but I believe the first lines are

Happiness is two different things: what you take, and then what you bring. One is pleasure, one is the flame. One's devotion one's just deranged.

This song is SO hard to hear - we may have to wait until live shows to figure it out. But here's what I got, and I think it's pretty accurate (what I do have, anyway):

Happiness is two different things: What you take and then what you break One is fragile one is a flame One's devotion one's just a rage

Inside everyone Love conquers alter-joy (?)

Don't waste your heart Don't waste your heart

Wanting nothing to do with the other (?) ... (?)

... my love One's an instinct one takes some will One ... life, one makes you kill ... what's lovely is that one's for the end

Inside everyone Love conquers alter-joy (?)

Don't waste your heart Don't waste your heart

Wanting nothing to do with the other (?) ... (?)

Don't you give in Don't be ... (?)

This song reminds me of 'Left & right in the Dark' on Julian's solo album! I like it!

This is probably the hardest Strokes song to understand. Is there no official lyrics packaged with the CD? I only got the digital version.
