DNA Lyrics

When it came to pass
Lonely passed me by
Fate with a single blow
Has custard pied me now
True I had my chance
True true true I had those wild charms for you
And oh oh oh oh oh my fire burned them out

But we will not be moved by it
We will not be moved by it.

Your mind would never ache
When you were young and sound
The way your heart aches now
Your fevers send them all to round
Love love love till you've got enough
Dance dance dance if you've got no love around you
Love love love till you've got enough
Dance dance dance till there's no one left to hound you

We will not be moved by it
We will not be moved by it

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Love love love till you've got enough
Dance dance dance if you've got no love around you
Love love love till you've got enough
Dance dance dance till there's no one left to hound you

We will not be moved by it
We will not be moved by it
We will not be moved by it
We will not be moved by it

In the first verse, replace 'shines' with 'charms'

Lyric Correction

not a chance, the song before on this album is Wild Charms

so? it could be a reference to that, alot of albums do have recurring imagery like that.

The song is about a lost love and the determination of both people to not be bummed out by its loss. With fantastic vagueness I might add.

When it came to pass Lonely passed me by (alluding to the theme of lost love)

Fate with a single blow Has custard pied me now (custard pied is a bit of a fill in verb. basically it just says fate has screwed me over)

True I had my chance True true true I had those wild charms for you And oh oh oh oh oh my fire burned them out (missed out on love, missed her chance)

But we will not be moved by it We will not be moved by it. (but we're not going to let it make us feel down)

Your mind would never ache When you were young and sound (perhaps citing a reason for missing out on the chance. chalking it up to being young and dumb)

The way your heart aches now Your fevers send them all to round (now old and wise, is sort of upset by this loss)

Love love love till you've got enough Dance dance dance if you've got no love around you Love love love till you've got enough Dance dance dance till there's no one left to hound you (this is basically saying that instead of being bummed out, this is what they're going to do. Love and Dance.)

We will not be moved by it We will not be moved by it (stating firmly that they will not be moved by anything in the past)

Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh Love love love till you've got enough Dance dance dance if you've got no love around you Love love love till you've got enough Dance dance dance till there's no one left to hound you

We will not be moved by it We will not be moved by it We will not be moved by it We will not be moved by it

the song could just be about stubborness and denial and alienating people. it's got gospel sound coming from the backup singers with smiles on their faces while singing " we will not be moved by it" but the lead singer is singing that part too- but with some rebellion.

My Opinion

'Has custard pied me now'
