Master of Art Lyrics

You came with your faith unshaken
Unabashed, oh my darling, you're amazing
With your hands so cold and full of callouses

Your name was the only word that I hear
I'll cut your hair short so I could see your ears
And I could know you hear my name, hear my name

You'll be shorn and I'll be sure

All I could pray for is that you'd please wait for
Me until I am a Master of Art
Until I have learned everything

Then I swear we can go away for
Just as long as you think that you could take me
You should know that I am often difficult

And we'll move to where the weight
Won't break our fingers when we wake up
And we'll stay inside a shape
And we will never ever worry
Never ever worry, yeah. Oh

Don't tire of
Don't tire of me yet

I could lie and say to you that this would soon be over
I could lie and say I knew that we'd be waking up tomorrow

You came with your faith unshaken
Unabashed, oh my darling, you're amazing
With your hands so cold and full of callouses

I could lie and say to you that this would soon be over
I could lie and say I knew where we'd be waking up tomorrow
I could make a little shape for us to stay
Until we have to go away again
The wait is just a little longer

Woah Ah-hah-ah

I'm not sure, but in the third stanza above, I think it should be "You'll be SHORN and I'll be sure." That's just what I hear, though.

Lyric Correction

I'm positive it's "You'll be shorn and I'll be sure." It's referring to her cutting the person's hair, being shorn. And she'll be sure they "hear her name."

Also, I think it's "I could lie, and say I knew, where we'd be waking up tomorrow" both times.

Amazing song. I recently started thinking of it as her talking to her grandmother/grandfather or another elderly figure in her life. Asking them to not die on her. "Hands so cold and full of calluses."

Oh, and calluses is spelled wrong. It should be that, calluses.

Pretty sure that this is about going on tour, or following an artistic pursuit and not having time to devote to your relationship. So "I could lie and say I knew this would soon be over/where we'd be waking up tomorrow" probably refers to the constant slog of late nights and long distance phone calls etc. Also, "until I am a master of art, until I have done everything"...pretty self-explanatory there....

furthermore, "Until we have to go away again, away is just a little longer", probably refers to going away on tour again, as most tours only last for a few weeks at a time but the entire lifestyle puts significant strain on relationships and so on.
