just some of my thoughts on the song:
so it seems like this song is about a kid (probably a teenager) who is struggling with the fact that his parents are separated. his mom is dating his best friend's dad, he's moved out of his childhood home and he feels his family has been destroyed in a way.
my favourite line is "you climb it up or you cut it down, this is your family tree." i took it to mean you only have one family and its your choice whether you are a part of it or not.
i love the last line "sensitive kid start acting like a grown up". stop crying about your problems and looking for sympathy and grow up. shit happens.
The song seems, to me, to be a story about a kid who went through some confusing things in his life (mom marrying best friend's dad). He went through a lot, and felt a lot more emotions than his own friends did making him over-analyze things, thus making him a Sensitive Kid. Maybe in the midst of all this, the kid never really got to live his childhood and had to "start acting like a grown up".

This has been bothering me for months "a purple heart that cannot dissolve"? That doesn't make sense? I believe the correct line is "But I won a purple heart that cannot be sold"
