Bad Love Lyrics
I was waiting in the back seat of the car
When I knew I'd given up
Down one of the back streets by the park
So sick of the taste of blood
I'm gonna write your girl a letter
It'll make everything better
Screaming down the phone line to your mum
She said, "Honey ain't home right now"
I bought a tuxedo and I bought a gun
And wore them all around this town.
Nobody dares to lift a finger
They can see my heart is down and injured
If I'm guilty of anything
It's loving you too much
Honey, sometimes love
Means getting a little bit rough
This is not bad love
This is not bad love
I've been going to church
But I don't believe
I'll ever be clear this pain
Walk like a ghost through these streets
Soaked from the pouring rain
And I won't ask your god for mercy
My spirit's low, my soul is dirty
If I'm guilty of anything
It's loving you too much
Honey, sometimes love
Means getting a little rough
This is not bad love
This is not bad love
When I knew I'd given up
Down one of the back streets by the park
So sick of the taste of blood
I'm gonna write your girl a letter
It'll make everything better
Screaming down the phone line to your mum
She said, "Honey ain't home right now"
I bought a tuxedo and I bought a gun
And wore them all around this town.
Nobody dares to lift a finger
They can see my heart is down and injured
It's loving you too much
Honey, sometimes love
Means getting a little bit rough
This is not bad love
This is not bad love
But I don't believe
I'll ever be clear this pain

I think this song is a guy lamenting over a bad relationship that's ended with a girl he was rather enthralled with and he can't seem to be let go of it. The relationship was rough, perhaps violent at times between him and the girl but he never viewed it as bad love, just a passionate (at times though combative relationship)...I think this him saying to him it was still love and not bad love as the girl ended up viewing it in the end. He interpreted their relationship and it's stress as well not all love is perfect, it can be rough, it's not always pristine and smooth.

Well, i think that the posts above mine do really touch the point... the only think i'd like to add, is that no one noticed the line that says "So sick of the taste of blood / I'm gonna write your girl a letter / It'll make everything better", located in the first paragraph. Probably, there is another guy in this girl's life, that complicates things... Maybe those two guys had a fight, and the "protagonist" is trying to make the girl get back with him, obsessed as he is with her, explaining that no relationship is perfect, and that theirs couldn't be perfect either. Great song in any case.
Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this song about a guy who fell in love with the other guy who has a girlfriend, so they've cheated on her together. Then that 'hetero' guy broke up with the lyrical hero because of fear of his church's disapproval or just because of other reason, and the first guy went mad of grief and guilty, so that's why he wants to write his girl a letter and bought a gun. But I can't figure out why 'he's not home'. Well, I don't know if it's what was meant in the lyrics, but I've always been thinking that this is what the song is about because of these lines:
I'm gonna write YOUR GIRL a letter It'll make everything better.
Screaming down the phone line to your mom She said, "Honey HE ain't home right now"
btw I've seen lyrics without 'he' in the previous line, but still the words about 'a letter'. If I'm totally wrong in interpretation of these mysterious lines, I'd be grateful if somebody explained why as English is not my native, thanks!
I think it's much darker than what most people here interpret it. I think this person is a stalker/obsessive, who literally has murdered this girls' boyfriend because he wants her for himself.
"So sick of the taste of blood", "I won't ask your God for mercy...my soul is dirty" suggest that he's gone well beyond mere thoughts and into action.
"I'll write your girl a letter, it'll make everything better", he'll tell the girl that they can be together now that her boyfriend is out of the way. Classic creepy horrifying stalker stuff.
Plus the lyrics and general vibe of the chorus...."we should be together, it's our destiny, so whatever I do is justified"
this is a funny song
