I think Deadmau5 is being ironic by making a dubstep-ish song. I think he's trying to make fun of dubstep by saying you're a "one trick pony". "I'd rather be eating glass, Stick hot needles in my eyes." He's never been shy to say he despises most edm artists for abusing easy rhythms. I think this was his way of saying fuck you in a song.
