It's an idealistic song. Nobody keeps anybody safe. And the world is filled with people who claim to love, but who use instead. I know; I've met a handful of people who lied to me and kept trying to string me along when they never had any intention of including me in their lives (except for online, etc). It's sad when one person loves another but the love isn't returned; you just have to move on and tell him/her goodbye.
