    The truth about this song is that it was originally written by Rolf Løvland from Norway. It has been covered hundreds of times some of them beeing by Josh Groban and Westlife

    Bridie, I dunno you or your dad, but you have my condolences. It must be very tough. I just realised that this song isn't necessarily a song to a lover, that it can refer to anyone in you're life who "Raises you up." He must've been an awesome dad. It reminds me of that Celine Dion song "Because You Loved Me". The category of "You're so damn good to me" songs if there is such a category. This sounds like a song I want for my wedding. This song is so simple yet so inspirational. Seriously, if you're asked to sing this on Australian or American Idol, and you forget for lines... give up. Simplicity and repetition and crescendo can be so effective. If you like this type of song, then check out "Tong Hua by Guang Liang" Its Chinese though, but similar principle.

    what! did westlife not write this? I am shocked they are great songwriters. Gives us all hope down the local pub karaoke that we could make it big singing other peoples songs for a living. Next single bound to be" I will survive"

    i absolutely adore this song, my granda died and it was played on the bagpipes at his funeral.. it is hard and i know if i ever see them live again i will get emotional.. such an amazing song

    Westlife are not nice people. They were going to sing at the Mardigra (sp?) in Sydney except they buggered off somewhere 'cause they weren't gonna get any $. Apparently it was for charity anyway. That's what I've been told...
