I hate this town, it's so washed up
And all my friends don't give a fuck
Don't tell me that it's just bad luck
When will I find where I fit in?
(Two, three, four)

Remember when I tried
I never strayed too far from you
Forever by your side
No matter what I was going through

But now I never know the things to say to you
That help me prove that I'm still on your side
I never show just what you do to me
Guess I was always wrong

I hate this town, it's so washed up
And all my friends don't give a fuck
Don't tell me that it's just bad luck
When will I find where I fit in?

I hate this town
'Cause no one can understand
I just can't be tied down
Nothing comes between me and my plans

So now I never know the things to say to you
That help me prove that I'm still on your side
I never show just what you do to me
Guess I was always wrong

I hate this town, it's so washed up
And all my friends don't give a fuck
Don't tell me that it's just bad luck
When will I find where I fit in?

And don't believe a word they're telling to you
Don't believe a word they're telling to you
They let me down
When will I find where I fit in?
I hate this town

Won't let a world gone mad ever bring me down
Gave everything I had to turn it back around
'Cause our time's worth somethin'
Bigger than both you and me
I can't live my life always backin' down
I gotta do this right then they can't make a sound
'Cause I'm not here for nothin'
Least I can say I stand for somethin'
You and me, we stand for somethin'

I hate this town, it's so washed up
And all my friends don't give a fuck
Don't tell me that it's just bad luck
When will I find where I fit in?

And don't believe a word they're telling to you
Don't believe a word they're telling to you
They let me down
When will I find where I fit in?
I hate this town

    Song Meaning

He wants to get out of the stupid town that he unfortunately lives in. He can't take it. He needs to get out and away from everyone.

His friends seem like they have just got used to the idea that they're going to stay in that town for the rest of their lives and they just don't care anymore.

He has someone that shares his same thoughts and they stand together on a lot of things. Lately, something has been wrong between the two of them and he feels it as if though it's his fault. Thinking that maybe he's always wrong. He wants this person to know that he is still there for them.

No one understands him. He has dreams to get out of that town and that's what hes going to do.

He's not going to listen to some dumb people tell him that he can't make it in what he wants to pursue. He's going to go out ther and make something of himself whether they believe in him or not. He's going to get out and reach for his dreams.

He did everything to get him to where he is today. Time is precious and so much bigger than all of us.

He can't just conform to other peoples' thoughts and beliefs. He's here to stand for something big and no one can stop him from saying what he has to say. He's going to say whatever and they con't do anything about it to stop him.

They stand for the same thing. It also means to me, that this person he is talking about needs to stop listening to the thoughts of other people, that he or she needs to continue to stand for what they believe in. They stand for something together, they're not just like the people around them.

<3 I love this song. I think most people can relate so much to it, that just makes it even more beautiful. (: ADTR <3

this song is about sucky OCALA, FLORIDA. it's where they're from & where i'm from. seriously, if you know anything about it, it sucks. Everyone has a stick shoved so far up their butts & people tend to get sucked in after graduating. we have a community college so everyone just settles for that. I'm guessing it's called all signs point to lauderdale because ft. lauderdale is an absolutely gorgeous city about two hours away from there.

so this songs really super relates to me because i know EXACTLY what they mean about the town being so washed up and nobody caring.

You guys do realize that when ADTR refers to 'this town,' they're not literally talking about a place right? This town can be seen throughout their music such as in "Downfall of Us All" and others. Whenever you hear the term 'this town,' they mean the music industry. He hates how it works, "it's so washed up," etc.. Keep that in mind and look over these lyrics again.

Hmm actually they first line to do with 'bad luck' sounds like "Don't tell me that it's just bad luck". I'm not sure though. Has anyone actually bought the CD? Wouldn't the lyrics be in the case?

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
