Catch Myself Catching Myself Lyrics

This time I am falling further away, nothing has changed,
Nothing has changed like I said it would.
Faster towards the ground, that's where they wait,
Where they wait for me, and enter my veins.
Feel them crawling through my skin,
Collecting my nerves that they feed to their children.
I swear it has to stop 'cause there is nothing left to give,
Nothing left to give.

I'll be the victor, I will destroy them.

I want to watch them burn it down,
So I can breathe again.

Inhale, cause after tonight I won't be the same,
Exhale, exhale and find my feet on the ground.

I'm not the same anymore.

As I sink down into the floor,
And the walls are caving in,
And I don't believe in them anymore.
Now I try to balance my walk,
I am coming down alone,
And I have to get them out of my head.

I want to watch them burn it down,
So I can breathe again.

One breath at a time I'll be just fine,
'cause I'll be right on the inside.
I steady my hands inside of my shell,
And wait 'til their backs are turned.
Inside of my head, where they thought they would win,
But I got them right where I want them.
Pushed to either side, I'm burning them alive,
I hear them begging and pleading.

Sounds like someone is trying to escape from something Something that has changed him and that change and he doesn't believe in it anymore So he waits for them to get in close, and then kills them/burns them alive to escape them, and while taking one breath at time telling himself its necessary to do this in order to survive the change that has imposed on him

But of course, that's just me :P

To me, this song is like about Spencer's struggle with drugs. In case any of you didn't know that, Spencer was addicted to drugs and alcohol before he joined Underoath. If you just read the lyrics with this in mind, it can be very consistent. "Enter my veins. Feel them crawling through my skin." Maybe because he just injected himself with something? "I have to get them out of my head." Because drugs and alcohol are all he can think about. "I'll be the victor, I will destroy them." Now he's breaking the habit/addiction.

I can't say for sure that this is the real meaning, but I think it's a halfway-decent guess lol.

Song Meaning

Yeah and that was 10 years ago :D well, could still be it but this song could tell about any kind of addiction or bad habit. Maybe 'them' is his habit of catching himself, looking at his flaws? But he realizes that he can't make himself be a better person. He's coming down alone as he's destroying himself? But then he wins the wrong thoughts, One breath at a time I'll be just fine, 'cause I'll be right on the inside.

just something that came up to my mind :)

While I agree with Adavisdan about the meaning of the song, there are a few things different. Spencer was actually addicted to Cocaine, not IV drugs. And he still was doing drugs after he came into the band. There was a AP article written about him a few years ago that actually explained his addiction. I think you nailed the meaning though.

I think this song is about people who prey on his emotions. He says that he going through difficult times, and "that's where they wait" for him. When he is weak (trying to control his breathing to calm down), they take and take, and he has "nothing left to give". The only way he sees to get his feet on the ground and get them out of his head is "burning them alive".
