Chris said this was directly from his fans. He took a bunch of lines from fans, and said he was shocked at how similar he and the fans wrote lyrics. I admire this idea so much.
It means that no matter how much he tries to get over that special somebody he can't and that there is so much more inside of us (The sick,the damned and the broken) than in anybody else
this song is about him vs himself and its really hard to get through it

"It's all the rain that's putting me to sleep" I think that this line means that the rain (depression) is keeping him numb. Well, that's how I feel everyday of my life. So, i can closely relate.
