Listing to this song, I get the feeling that “Magazines” is a metaphor for social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.
Since the song writer is obviously becoming more and more distant with the person he is signing to, he feels like all he knows about the person are “written in the magazines” aka Facebook/twitter postings.
