Forgetting Lyrics
Crawling and walking
and running and sweating
Forgetting
Lying and cheating
Aiding and abetting
Forgetting
Itching and scratching
and punching and hitting
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Reminding, rewinding,
Removing, regretting,
Forgetting
Your smiles at the wake and
Your tears at the wedding
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Spellbound and hell-bound
and caught in the netting
Forgetting
A wiping it clean
A minute Armageddon
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
and running and sweating
Forgetting
Aiding and abetting
Forgetting
and punching and hitting
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Removing, regretting,
Forgetting
Your tears at the wedding
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
and caught in the netting
Forgetting
A minute Armageddon
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting
Forgetting
Forgetting, Forgetting, Forgetting

I always think of my grandma suffering from Dementia when listening to this. It seems really likely that it is about Dementia/alzheimer's disease.
Aside from the obvious forgetting, there is a lot of emotional extremes with someone suffering from this type of disease. They can cry at the drop of a hat. It's a state of constant confusion, fear, frustration. Some patients get violent, some try to reclaim their freedom, some get inappropriate. Conversations repeat again and again, and as soon as they diverge, there's a mental reset. They can never know where they are for long, which is why they might smile at a wake or break down at a wedding.
The whole song feels like a very compassionate trip into the mind of someone suffering from Dementia, and experiencing the splashes of different emotions, followed by frequent forgetting, only to repeat.
That's just my 2 cents.
Fantastic! It might just be me, but I always think the string part that runs along sounds almost like an ambulance siren in slow motion.
While reading through the lyrics and listening to the song I was thinking It sounds a lot like your life flashing before your eyes just before you die.
I love this song. Something about it just... I could just listen to it for hours. Anyway, the line I enjoy the most is "a minute Armageddon," because the "minute" can be taken it two ways. He pronouces it as minute, a tiny/small Armageddon, small because I interpret it as only affecting two people. However, you could also say minute, as 60 seconds of Armageddon, 60 seconds of chaos and yelling before taking a deep breath and trying to figure out where you stand with each other.
It is a beautiful song, when written about Alzheimer suffering, or a sufferer. Moments you now remember but wish to forget, then those harmful ones caused pain, but shocking enough the memory turns to other terribly reminders, so unforgettable, yet true purpose finally reveals itself ending in a loving way, a lesson, you want to hold onto that once an evil, and now a proven treasure, which shall your mind hold onto longest, which are already starting to forget? The love, family love you've felt so deeply, relied on those that were so much of you, a portion of your core, somehow you've watched as it slip away until you no longer remember why you cut them out, or they remove you from their sense of purpose,Forgetting "Who are they?"The Armageddon reference could be a questionable feeling asking is this it, the end, Armageddon, all the pain, suffering, confusion, the moments end? The consistent "forgetting, is he asking did he forget anything, or does he, was he, to forget everything, will he forget in that 1 moment of Armageddon. Any form of forgetting, a blessing, or a curse, maybe a bit of both, maybe nothing at all...a simple act of ones mind to assist the body to get through the stress of a moment, by forgetting...A mother daughter, a ending abilities to simply fit anymore, no life to come back to...too much turmoil, but the song sent...sent to deliver the last message to the other...and what could the true meaning be in these lyrics meant to end final words...Is there ever the word Forgive offered? If not, why not? Is it just best to be forgotten, are the simple meanings of a simply word lost forgotten in its own translation?
