My Baby Lyrics
My Baby – Julia Stone:
Love you tenderly, Love you sweetly.
That’s what I’ll do, that’s what I’ll do.
Love you when you need me,
Love you when you leave me in the blue.
Clouds will cover your eyes, you’ll tell me lies
But I wont leave you.
Clouds will cover my eyes, ill try to hide,
But I wont leave you.
Cause you’ll always be my baby,
My baby.
You’ll always be my baby,
My baby, my baby.
Love you when you hate me,
Love you when you made me feel alone, in the daytime.
Love you when you leave me,
Love you when you need me.
You leave me behind.
Clouds will cover your eyes, you’ll tell me lies,
But I wont leave you
Clouds will cover my eyes, ill try to hide
But I wont leave you
Cause you’ll always be my baby,
My baby, my baby.
You’ll always be my baby,
My baby, my baby.
You’ll always be my baby,
You’ll always be my baby.
You’ll always be my baby,
My baby, my baby.
That’s what I’ll do, that’s what I’ll do.
Love you when you need me,
Love you when you leave me in the blue.
But I wont leave you.
Clouds will cover my eyes, ill try to hide,
But I wont leave you.
My baby.
You’ll always be my baby,
My baby, my baby.
Love you when you made me feel alone, in the daytime.
Love you when you leave me,
Love you when you need me.
You leave me behind.
But I wont leave you
Clouds will cover my eyes, ill try to hide
But I wont leave you
My baby, my baby.
You’ll always be my baby,
My baby, my baby.
You’ll always be my baby.
You’ll always be my baby,
My baby, my baby.

It's about a boy who doesn't treat her good. He leaves her alone, makes her feel bad, and sometimes she trys to escape I think ("I try to hide") but in the end she always keeps coming back because she loves him, no matter what he does.
I actually don't think this is about an amorous relationship, I see it as being a song from mother to child. It's about unconditional love through all phases of that mother-son relationship as the child grows up–making her feel alone in the daytime to me is going to school after those tender years of bonding. Naturally as we grow up we lie to our parents and inevitably almost everyone gets in that one argument ending in "I HATE YOU!" Very simple yet sweet. Reminds me a little bit of "You are Your Mother's Child" by Conor Oberst.
