Once Upon a Time Lyrics
I am scorned in this heavenly scheme
With the stench of destruction
I'm a reaver of beautiful dreams
And she knows I'm on the edge, sacrilege
(Push me over)
Tell me once upon a time
I close my eyes and see myself reborn
Righting the wrong
I won't stay to stand in line
And wait for God to shine all over me
I wait for the storm
I am you and I know that you heard
You and I are the last at the end of the world
Then we talk, we run, and we hide
Then so what, the human race suffocates?
(Leave me breathless)
Tell me once upon a time
I close my eyes and see myself reborn
Righting the wrong
I won't stay to stand in line
And wait for God to shine all over me
I wait for the storm
I wait for the storm
I wait for the storm
Move along
Through the ashes of a dream
Move along
I see myself in you again
Tell me once upon a time
I close my eyes and see myself reborn
Righting the wrong
I won't stay to stand in line
And wait for God to shine all over me
I wait for the storm
With the stench of destruction
I'm a reaver of beautiful dreams
And she knows I'm on the edge, sacrilege
I close my eyes and see myself reborn
Righting the wrong
I won't stay to stand in line
And wait for God to shine all over me
I wait for the storm
You and I are the last at the end of the world
Then we talk, we run, and we hide
Then so what, the human race suffocates?
I close my eyes and see myself reborn
Righting the wrong
I won't stay to stand in line
And wait for God to shine all over me
I wait for the storm
I wait for the storm
I wait for the storm
Through the ashes of a dream
Move along
I see myself in you again
I close my eyes and see myself reborn
Righting the wrong
I won't stay to stand in line
And wait for God to shine all over me
I wait for the storm

How can no one have commented on this song? It's a masterpiece!! Amazing synth solo at the beginning and a catchy chorus.
It seems like the character portrayed is surrounded by chaos in the real world but then in his dreams he is basically "the one" and doesn't need anyone to help him stop all the wrong in the world.
In a nutshell, this song is a powerful anthem of self improvement and independence. Also being the final track on the final album with Roy Khan, it calls back to the epic, charging symphonic metal which put Kamelot on the map, but still sticks with the themes of personal strife in Poetry for The Poisoned.
"I am scorned in this heavenly scheme With the stench of destruction I'm a reaver of beautiful dreams And she knows I'm on the edge, sacrilege" -The speaker is in a dark place and people in their life have concern for them.
"Tell me once upon a time I close my eyes and see myself reborn Righting the wrong I won't stay to stand in line And wait for God to shine all over me I wait for the storm" -The speaker does not just wish for a change in their deeds, but declares that they will step out of line to make a change and not wait for a, perhaps never-coming, divine intervention.
