I think a war between heaven and hell is possible, but people are definetly on the brink of war. It's a great opener because it's so heavy and edgy, gives the whole album a darker feel.
Is this text official? Shouldn't it be "One more dawn by the book of Babylon' etc. ? Cause later on it's 'Just one more day', so that'd make more sense I think.
The booklet says "down." Then again, it also says "babalon," which is spelled wrong. The point is, the booklet's lyrics are not infallible (as can also be seen in Siége Perilous, when they mixed up three song titles) It could well be "dawn," although I hear "down" as well.

The Babalon is not spelled wrong, it refers to the book of Babalon/libre 49 written by Jack Parsons as a transmission from the goddess or force called Babalon received by him during the Babalon Working (a magical ritual he tried to invoke the female spirit Babalon). Parsons claimed that Liber 49 constituted a fourth chapter of Crowley's Liber AL Vel Legis (The Book of the Law), the holy text of Thelema (a religion revolving aroun the Liber Al Vel Legis which was dictated by the spirit/being Aiwass). This is now one of my favorite Kamelot songs, the solo towards the end is amazing. I get dawn of the dead/zombie vibes from this song for some reason, although the reference to Avalon may prove me wrong.
I'm not sure, but it reminds me of the epic poem, Paradise Lost by Milton. It is about fallen angels, Satan, and demons waging a war against God for sending them to the dark, pits of hell. The place where they confer and decide what to do is called Pandaemonium. Their album Epica was their version of Doctor Faustus, so it wouldn't surprise me if they are doing a reproduction.
This song has strong Occultic influence. Really has nothing to do with Milton or a war between Heaven and Hell. It has more to do with self awareness. Fate is a by-product of time that humanity created to measure duration itself. The lake of Avalon is symbolism for time. The trip that he must create is to realize what you perceive before you as reality is just one of many.
One thing I noticed: The lyrics mention some "book of Babalon", which probably is the "Liber Babalon" by Jack Parsons. I have read up on that in the internet. I haven't understood everything about that book, but it's some creepy occult talk about the resurrection of a god. And then it sais: "The working is of nine moons." In the song it is: "Just one more day." This is the beginning of the ninth album (ninth moon/day?). Got it? ;)
What does he mean by Sonisphere? I "Googled" it, and the Sonisphere is a festival or a concert. When I understand that, it makes the meaning of the song turn into the sensation the band feels when they rock on stage.
Perhaps more simply, when Kamelot comes on stage and plays there music, the crowd evolves from excited to a Great Pandemonium. This song would then just be the experience of seeing a crowd of people lose their shit when they sing. I would like to think that it's Milton's Paradise Lost, but I wouldn't know how the Sonisphere line would apply to that definition.
