Sister don't mind that I'm not on time
She knows that I'm through with that
Sick of trying, don't let mine

Mama's still loving and daddy still loves
They know that I'm here like that
Unlike mine, true and kind

Call me your sigh and I will now be
And I will be fine with that
You don't leave me now, you might love me back
Distance is fine, I know you can't care
And nothing is big like that
You don't see me now, I don't see you back

Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
You don't leave me now
Do you love me back?

Just to remind you I'm a mistake
How come you don't want to know?
You don't wanna see, you don't wanna show
Kicking myself, I know that you're tough
Yeah, we can pretend we're that
Gotta see how you gotta leave that

Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
You don't leave me now
Do you love me back?

Snow is outside but I'm by your fire
I feel all the love you bring
You gotta see how we can see this out
Summer in mind and spring by your side
We'll see all the love we'll keep
Gotta see that we can't be there

Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
Ooh, one day I'll be fine with that
You don't leave me now
Do you love me back?
You don't leave me now
Do you love me back?
You don't leave me now
Do you love me back?
You don't leave me now
Do you love me back?

I did one flop but I don't remember where

Classic love story true to his western tx roots. One of my favorites as a story, but I think there are alot of songs that are amazing not even listed on this site. I guess I should figure out how to add them, because I have about 8 REK cd's.

He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

He certainly did earn that reputation.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
