Hesitate Lyrics
You were my fire, so I burned
til' there was nothing left of me
I, I touched your face, I held you close
til' I could barely breath
Why do you give me hope then give me up,
just to be the death of me?
Save the rest of me
Cause' I see you
but I can't feel you anymore,
so go away
I need you,
but I can't need you anymore
You hesitate
Now, now and then you come around
like there's something left for me
You were one, ooh, you were everything
I'm still here but I'll just keep the rest of me
Cause' I see you
but I can't feel you anymore,
so go away
I need you,
but I can't need you anymore
You hesitate
Could we ever make it?
You hesitated
Oh, I don't believe
that I see you
but I can't feel you anymore,
so go away
I need you,
but I can't need you anymore
You hesitate
Cause' I see you
but I can't feel you anymore
so go away
I need you,
but I can't need you anymore
You hesitate
Hesitate
You were my fire
so I burned, now there's nothing left of me

Save the rest of me
but I can't feel you anymore,

well to start off stone sour is a really amazing and talented band that diserves the respect it gets and more
now for the meaning of this beautiful song I feel its about what signsReverywhere said and how hard it is to walk away from someone who means so much to you, if you have been there before it truely is one of the hardest things a person can do, letting go of the one you love or care most for, even when knowing its for the best it still is difficult
I know exactly what you mean, I'm going through this right now

Perfectly said man, I'm just going through this and it's so hard, but songs like these help so much.

Yep. It's all about having the courage to walk away from an intimate relationship. And if you've been there, you know how hard that is.
Man, this is a great song. I'm glad its getting some radio play, thats how I heard it at first.
Corey: "This is the tail-end of the last three songs. It's the stage after it's stopped burning really hot and you see that you're not meant for each other and you walk away. It's doing what's right for you, instead of doing what's easy."
I'd say eye roll but it's getting redundant and you know how much I hate both redundancy and predictability:)

I love this song the metion is portrayed so beautifully.
It's about someone who he loved but they weren't sure about it so it didn't work out and he felt like he was being used but he still has feelings for them but wants to move on.
I agree completely thats exactly how i feel about this girl i really like and i can relate to this song completely

I never really gave this song a chance, at first. But wow, after hearing it and feeling it, very deep song. Didn't expect this from Corey Taylor, at all. Just a beautiful song, you guys are pretty much on point with the interpretation. Pretty much a broken relationship, that he wanted much more out of, but has to give up and walk away from. I can relate. Good work, song.
I don't know whether I love this song for its portrayal of conflicted emotions or hate it for the same. Yes no yes no yes no. Small wonder relationships can have problems if people are torn this way. And imagine if they are the same just always on the seperate page.
Save me. Go away. I need you. I can't need you anymore. You were [past tense] everything. I'll keep the rest of me. Could we make it? I don't believe. You were [past tense] my fire. Theres nothing left of me.
Song almost brings me to tears every time i hear it... Reminds me of my ex boyfriend....
It's hard to let go of someone who meant so much, that you don't want to lose. That what that songs saying ...
I feel this song is how I've felt for the last couple of weeks.
I broke up with a girlfriend of 2 years a month ago, and she was really bad for me, she made so little effort to see me or spend time with me. She basically burnt me and took what was good away.
A month on and I have put myself together, this song helped me move on, showed me that she was bad for me and that i could do some much better with out her. my life is better but its been very hard, Also lost quite bit of weight which makes me really happy! :D
I say celebrate with sex !!!
I say celebrate with sex !!!
I think this really fits a guy who has had a rather-empty life and had filled it with violent, destructive behavior, but that he also had formed a family with people who really care about it; but I also think the guy had chosen drugs or something life-threatening that had his days numbered.
"you were my fire, so i burned, 'til there was nothing left of me" could fit both sides of his life, the good and the bad, because the bad choice of lifestyle pretty much spear-headed him to an early grave but because he actually had people who loved him it was harder to give his all when he would fight. "why give me hope then give me up just to be the death of me" would be him talking to life; maybe he was finally given all that he had needed in life but it obviously was given to him too late. the chorus makes me think that he has no choice but to sit back and watch the life that he had needed all along and do nothing about it, sort of the "take your medicine" scenario, and that in a weird way he just wants the "needed life" to just leave him so he can't feel anymore pain. "we never made it, you hesitated" sounds as though he tried to make good terms with his life but in spite of his struggle he got himself killed ("you [life] hesitated"). the rest of the song I think would fit him after death, how even though his soul was still earthbound that he wouldn't be able to enjoy what he had left behind like he would have been able to if he were still alive. "you were my fire, so I burned, now there's nothing left of me" would be him summing up what his life had been and done to him, and the "there's nothing left of me" would declare that he had died.
just my take on it. probably my favorite stone sour song.
