The Immortals Lyrics
The open road, the path of greatness
It's at your fingers
Go be the one that keeps on fighting
Go be the stranger
Just put your foot in front the other
Crow like the rooster
Be all and all
Together something
Fear is a danger
I say
Spill out on the streets of stars
Ride away
Find out what you are
Face to face
The windows are
The perfect picture
They're always changin
Go on get lost
Jump in the waters
when they are raging
I say
Spill out on the streets of stars
Ride away
Find out what you are
Face to face
Once you've had enough
Carry on
Don't forget to love
Before you're gone
Spill out on the streets of stars
Ride away
Find out what you are
Face to face
Once you've had enough
Carry on
Don't forget to love
Before you're gone
It's at your fingers
Go be the one that keeps on fighting
Go be the stranger
Just put your foot in front the other
Crow like the rooster
Be all and all
Together something
Fear is a danger
Ride away
Find out what you are
Face to face
The perfect picture
They're always changin
Go on get lost
Jump in the waters
when they are raging
Ride away
Find out what you are
Face to face
Once you've had enough
Carry on
Don't forget to love
Before you're gone
Ride away
Find out what you are
Face to face
Once you've had enough
Carry on
Don't forget to love
Before you're gone

Head them play this at Bonnaroo, and there is absolutely no part of this song that I do not like. From the opening guitar riff, to Caleb's voice singing it. There is so much confidence he has singing this live.
I know this is just my interpretation, but it is probably more about their confidence. Just like in the song Fans, they remind us all that they have hit it big but the insane thing about this is how the main verse ends.
Thanks Kings of Leon for being the best band I've heard in my lifetime (that is a personal statement, don't think it means they are the best band of all time, but as far as I care? Yes, to me they are.)
Don't forget to love before you're gone. Does that need any explanation? This song is love.
Be all and all Together something Fear is a danger
I say
Spill out on the streets of stars Ride away Find out what you are Face to face
This song is incredible. The message as I take it is - risk everything. We have one life to live and we need sacrifice comfort to realize our potential. Be brave and challenge your comfort zone. The lyrics suggest this, "spill out on streets of stars, ride away.. Find out what you are face to face.. Once you've had enough, carry on.. Don't forget to love, before you've gone." Streets of stars = a poetic term for the cosmos, a metaphor for the infinite possibilities of our lives. Find out what you are = Test your limits, take risks. Once you've had enough = when sense of self is developed, that part of your life has been fulfilled. You've earned your stripes, carry on.. Don't for get to love = general life advice, enjoy this go because its all we've got. Incredible sound to this track, each chorus gets a little bigger each time.. Mmmmm

completely agree with you Dave. Best band of my lifetime, and only getting better.
I also think this song is about being young and thinking you're invincible - going through life and making mistakes, riding the highs, because that's what being young is all about.
"jump in the waters when they are ragin"
get out there, be the stranger, the fighter, whatever - because you are entitled to experience the world. and in the process, you find out who you are and you have to face that.
"don't forget to love before you're gone"
WHY IS THIS SONG SO AMAZING aahhh. it makes me wanna go change the world. or just be really young and reckless for a while. also I LOVE Jared's (I think it's his) beautiful voice in the chorus with the little echo-y effect.
The last line of the first verse is "Fear is a danger". Thanks for posting all of these.

Yea...in the interview Caleb says this is something he wants to say to his children - go out and be who you wanna be, but before it's all over, make sure you've loved.
and I agree with Jared's opinion on this being one of the most beautiful songs and choruses I've ever heard. seriously when that line comes in..."I say.." and all the instruments sorta swell up together, I get goosebumps and tears in my eyes. every time.
favorite on the new album. :)
What do they mean with "Spill out on the streets of stars"?
I'm brazilian and I don't quite catch that...
Thanx!
i think its about staying confidante in yourself and in your dreams, if you really want them, you will follow them
