Fade Into (The Ocean) Lyrics

Broken shoulders
Resting on my back
Overloaded with
The weight stacked
Higher and higher
Time runs tired

Silence falls
Into the deafening
Sirens of
My own epiphany
Silence falls
Into the deafening
Silence of
My own epiphany
My own mortality

Here I lay with my regrets
Possessions, petty meaningless
You were my medicine
Healing me with tenderness

Don’t go

I don’t know
Don’t go
I don’t know
Don’t Go
I don’t know what is happening
What is happening

Is this the end
Oh my God
Is this the end
Or just the beginning

Broken body
Crumbles into dust
Weight is lifted
Sending me with love
Higher and Higher
Time expires

The silent come
Reawakening
Passing on
Into eternity
The silent come
Reawakening
Passing on
Into eternity

Cry no more for me

Crossing through
Fade into
Crossing through
Fade into
Crossing thought
Face into

Crossing through
Fade into the light
Face into the light

Crossing through
Crossing through
Fade into the light

Crossing through
Crossing through
Fade into the light

I think this song is about loosing someone. And I do think the line "Fade into the light" does support death considering they say when you die you go to the light. But I don't think it's the person dieing I think it's about loosing someone else to death that you loved.I will support this with the line "Don’t Go'."silence falls into the deafening sirens of my own epiphany." I think he is realizing that his loved one is really dead. then "The silent come Reawakening Pass me on Into eternity" is him dealing with it or getting over it. "here I lie with my regrets" is him thinking about all the bad stuff he's done to this dieing person.

This is an interesting perspective. Though I disagree with the assessment, it's an interesting way to look at it.

In my opinion, this song is clearly about the process of life and death.

"Broken shoulders resting on our backs. Overloaded with the weights staked higher and higher. Time runs tired."

Seems to describe the challenges and difficulties of this earthly life. So often we're bogged down with stress and sadness, the weights stacked higher and higher each day until we become exhausted with it all the suffering just never seems to end, time runs tired...

"Silence falls into the deafening sirens of my own epiphany, my own mortality"

Then suddenly, we're awakened from this trance cycle of pain and fear and we realize that, our minds go silent from the usual chatter and we realize our own mortality. We realize that we're not going to be alive here forever.

"Here I lie with my regrets, possessions petty and meaningless. You were my medicine, healing me with tenderness."

Lying on our deathbed we realize the futility of it all. We come to the conclusion that "he who dies with most toys" doesn't win anything, he still dies. Death comes to us all. So lying on the death bed, we think about the things in our life that we regret. The arguments, the anger, the fears, the shame. We also think of those we love, who are perhaps sitting beside us. They are our medicine, healing our spirits with their loving tenderness.

"Don't go"

The voices of our loved ones ringing in our heads, pleading for us not to leave.

"I don't know... what is happening"

Our grasping to understand what is happening to us as we fade away.

"Broken body crumbles into dust. Weight is lifted sending me with love. Higher and higher. Time expires"

Our bodies begin to decay the moment we die. The spirit is released from the body, the pain and suffering, the constant noise of the mind, it all goes silent and the weight of life is lifted from our shoulders and we're greeted, in our spirit, with an overwhelming sense of love and peace and we feel as though we're climbing higher and higher into the presence of this love.

"Silent come, reawakening. Passing on into eternity. Cry no more for me"

The silence is broken by our reawakening on the other side. We've passed on into eternity and we've begun to experience a new existence without pain, without fear, without regret. Our past is no longer a part of our identity. We have a true understanding of who we are. We are eternal beings. Time is no more. And as we make this transition we, in our spirit, release our loved ones. We want them to know that they need not cry for us because we are in a place of beauty and love.

"Crossing through, fade into the light"

We've completely crossed over and we're now living a new existence in this place of light and peace.

That's my 2¢

How we get there? I know what I believe. What do you think?

This is a truly bad ass song. ANd it's about the death process, or someone dying. It goes from being on your death bed, and realizing material things didn't matter, to telling your family they helped you (you were my medicine) to the actual dying part. And going onto whatever you believe is on the otherside, somewhat scared and confused about what was happening (Is this the end? Oh my god...) This cd is freakin awesome... does sound a little different without matt though....

This song is much more complex then their other work. Time changes and a "Tool" like format to their style in this one. You can really tell the inspiration from Tool in this song. This is a pretty impressive song.

The best song off the new CD without a doubt. I haven't really figured out what it is about though.
