Blangee Blee Lyrics
you pull it to the right
and i bring it back to center
i blame it on your pride
and you blame it on my temper
standing on the skin of a cell it was sickle
for me it was over the coroner, the cripple
we'd spend our lives making out middles
oh to give so much got me so little
for all that was said
i believe it wasn't spoken
you sang it to the wall
but the tune it wasn't holdin'
my guess it wasn't bound to the spine,
to the spindle
for all i lead you from
i'm the coroner, the cripple
we'd spend our lives making out middles
oh to give so much got me so little
and i bring it back to center
i blame it on your pride
and you blame it on my temper
for me it was over the coroner, the cripple
oh to give so much got me so little
i believe it wasn't spoken
you sang it to the wall
but the tune it wasn't holdin'
my guess it wasn't bound to the spine,
to the spindle
for all i lead you from
i'm the coroner, the cripple
oh to give so much got me so little

I hear the chorus as "We spend our nights making up riddles" and I see it as being pretty explicitly about being in a band and probably the whole conflict of obscuring the truth for the sake of music. We turn things inside out when we put them into song and the finished product has to be reinterpreted by each individual listener, all getting a different meaning out of it. They essentially become riddles, and the artists become writers of myth. That's the dynamic I get out of this song anyways... Great tune!
Maybe it's not the best song on the new record, but it's certainly my favorite. The bassline on the chorus is so good and propels the song so so well. And what a fantastic outro.
Like all of Liz's lyrics, they're tough to decipher. I like it that way. But if I were to guess, I'd say she's mourning the end of a relationship that was mostly spent blaming each other for the reasons it's not working. Playing a tug-of-war with an equal match that gets you nowhere. Compromises leaving you standing where you started.
You're wrong. All wrong. All respect for others even listening to Land of Talk. Amazing track. Ridiculous outro, amazing lyrics beautifully portraying the intricate details of a beloved, yet, slightly under-appreciated relationship for granted. In my opinion. Composition, unreal. leaves, me at least, breathless. Danke!! Land of Talk. So much love your way from those who are fortunate enough to know of your music, Thank you for the passion.
