Satellite 15...The Final Frontier Lyrics
[SATELLITE 15...]
I try to call the Earth's command,
desperation in my voice.
I'm drifting way off course now
with very little choice.
The loneliness is hard to bear,
I try to calm my fear.
Just hoping, any second now,
some contact filters through.
Desperation calls...
signal back from Satellite
as my life flashes
right in front of me.
Try again...must get through.
Hear me now...
for I've very little time.
Not much time...hear my call.
Please get through...I am here.
[THE FINAL FRONTIER]
I'm stranded in space,
I'm lost without a trace.
I haven't a chance of getting away.
Too close to the Sun,
I surely will burn
like Icarus before me,
or so legend goes.
I think of my life,
reliving my past.
There's nothing but wait
'til my time comes.
I've had a good life,
I'd do it again.
Maybe I'll come back
some time afresh.
For I have lived my life to the full,
I have no regrets.
But I wish I could talk to my family
to tell them one last goodbye.
The Final Frontier
The Final Frontier.
The Final Frontier
The Final Frontier.
If I could survive
to live one more time,
I wouldn't be changing
a thing at all.
Done more in my life
than some do in ten,
I'd go back and do it
all over again.
For I have lived my life to the full,
I have no regrets.
But I wish I could talk to my family
to tell them one last goodbye.
The Final Frontier
The Final Frontier.
The Final Frontier
The Final Frontier.
There isn't much time,
must say my last rites.
Nobody is here to
read them to me.
Must say my goodbyes,
if only a time,
a message to tell them
in case they might find...
For I have lived my life to the full,
I have no regrets.
But I wish I could talk to my family
to tell them one last goodbye.

Hi folks! I believe there's an error:
Must say my goodbyes, if only a line, (NOT if only a time,) (A message of one line only, at least, would be appreciated) a message to tell them in case they might find...
This song can mean a lot of things:
Thanx
Actually, Iron Maiden members have confirmed that this is NOT their last album. The "Last" in the title "The Last Frontier" only refer to space being the last frontier for humans to explore. Hence the album art and album theme.
I agree with the first two posts though. It appears that this song is very much like these. I love this song most of all on the album. Slow start, but awesome ending! Up the Irons!
I think that "Satellite 15... The Final Frontier" is really referring to death. If you really look at the album, death and loss are the things that link all the songs. Which could be why the album's name is "The Final Frontier".
Spaceman finds a planet with a strange device on it and is attacked by space eddie. Spaceman uses the device to blow up the planet and tries to fuck off in his ship, but eddie is on board and sabotages the flight. Spaceman tries to escape in the escape pod but he's too close to the sun and is being drawn in, but he's totally okay with it 'cause he had an awesome life and did some good shit. He also regrets that he didn't get to say goodbye to his family.
I doubt, from the almost casual references to space that are scattered throughout the lyrics, that this is referring to space as being "The Final Frontier." I think that, as this guy is talking about how he's lived a good life and has done so much, and how he's not afraid of death anymore, that he is implying that death is the Final Frontier. Death is the one thing that we never know until we get there. It is the real Final Frontier. I can see this theme fitting in with the rest of the album, as it contains many references to space, but that might just be part of a double entendre. There are a few other songs that contain cryptic references to death or are more specifically focused on death as a lyrical theme. So I really think that this album is really mostly about death, but it just happens to happen partly in space to give it a slightly darker and alien context.
It is about how you do not mess with eddie, he's dangerous.
You are absolutely right. The first part, Satellite 15, IS about what we refer to as the final frontier. I guess its the ship the guy was on. But the song Final Frontier is about the REAL final frontier.. Death.
Would be more spacey stuff if was about space travel and stuff, instead the whole song is about dying, reflecting on his life, the possibility of reincarnation, etc
Great everything. From Drums to Bass this is the best Maiden album since Brave New World.
I think it's about an astronaut who goes to space and perhaps crashes into Satellite 15 and is sent drifting to the Sun and there's nothing he can do and he goes mad because he's alone in the dark
Pretty self-explanatory: This guy is trapped inside this satellite and the satellite is drawn towards the sun. However, he realizes that he ain't afraid of dying because he "lived his life to the full".
