Thrive

This song seems to be Jon's way of expressing that people need more than just to survive and how his life is not without doubts, for he has experienced being without hope. I respect his humility and all of his songs.

I really like this song (one of my favs off the album). I would have to say that this song is about doing more than just "getting by" in life. The lyrics that stand out me are "A steering wheel doesn't mean you can drive, A warm body doesn't mean I'm alive", I think this (and the song) means that simply being alive isn't living. The analogy would be, just because you have a steering wheel in front of you doesn't mean your moving forward. We need to be beyond just breathing, we need to be thriving.

I adore this song! it's very calm and relaxing, I think it's about living life and staying true to yourself and what you believe in because that's what makes all of us special and unique and that If we don't thrive than our lives would be meaningless.

The meaning is pretty obvious, I just wanna point out that the lyrics remind me of More Than Fine. Both are such lovely songs! Super excited about this new record.

This song has a pretty simple message. Jon is saying here that we have a bigger meaning in out life.

"I come alive when I hear you singing But lately I haven't been hearing a thing" I think this is Jon talking about his relationship with God. Sometimes God's guidance is hard for us to see because we look in the wrong places.

"I get the feeling that I'm in between A machine and a man who only looks like me" The "American Dream" or any other manmade purpose is the machine he feels pulled into. He recognizes that being who God has called you to be can be extremely difficult at times.

One of the best songs . I feel its about a person, who knows he's missing something in life and wants to get it right and wants to live freely.

One correction in the lyrics listed here: Between the chorus and the "I get so down..." bridge, there should be these two lines:

"I'm always close, but I'm never enough. I'm always in line, but I'm never in love."

I think this song is pretty straightforward. "I wanna thrive, not just survive" pretty much sums it up. He's saying he's not content with just getting by. He wants to excel, make a difference, go beyond what is expected. And right now, that's not happening so he's determined to change that.

5 years and only 9 comments?! This song is awesome! I cryed the first I heard it. It's like it was written about me. I could listen to it all day (I listened to it on repeat for two hours once). Is it just me or does everyone feel like this in some point in their lives? Anyway, awesome song! Switchfoot rulz!
