I Don't Want To Be A Bride Lyrics

I like your company, got a new philosophy
Never knew such a gentleman
And you can take me on a cheap vacation
I don't want to have expectations
'Cause you could be the end of me

And I don't need a house on a hill, a swing on a tree
A grandfather clock, porcelain for tea
A garden with rose and jasmine
I wanna get drunk on a bottle of wine
No better way to pass the time
Forever by your side

But I don't want to be a bride
Apologies to your mother
But I could be your girl and share this life with you
But I don't want to wear white
You know it's too late for that
Can we keep the ever after?
Oh, could it be?

Don't need no golden ring
It'd be no match for the love you'd bring
From London to Tennessee
And we could catch a train to another life
On a whim under the moonlight
I promise you, will you promise me?

Our last names on a wooden sign
Arm in arm where the river starts to wind
Forever by your side

But I don't want to be a bride
Apologies to each other
But I could be your girl and share this life with you
But I don't want to wear white
Oh, you know it's too late for that
But can we keep the ever after?
Oh, could it be?
Just you and me
Ah, ah, ah

We will live like kings under lavender skies, skies
We will live like kings under lavender skies, skies -- we will
Built a poem we kept a rhyme
Wrapped our love in golden twine
We wrote, we wrote a legacy
Just you and me
Just like kings under lavender skies, skies

I feel like this song is pretty self explanatory. She wants to be with this person and be happy, but she doesn't want to marry them.

She means that she loves this man enough to spend the rest of her life with him, but they don't have to have a wedding to prove it. She loves him and they will be together forever, but not because of jumping through traditional hoops.

At first when I saw the song title of "I Don't Want to be a Bride" I thought it was a song about her not wanting to get married; but after listening to it, I realized that's not what she meant at all. She's not ruling out the possibility of being this person's wife. In fact, she wants to spend the rest of her life with them.

She just doesn't want to put on this giant show for people that will never understand the intimate workings of their relationship. She doesn't want to trivialize what they share by going along with society's perception of a blushing bride.

As in the lyrics "But I don’t wanna wear white. Oh, you know it’s too late for that"

Many people rush into marriage because they want the wedding, the ring, and their dream home; but if you truly love someone enough to be with them forever, you don't need all that to be happy. You simply need their presence and your mutual dedication to your love to make it through.

This is represented well in the lyrics: "Don’t need no golden ring It’d be no match for the love it brings From London To Tennessee We could Catch a train to another life On a whim, under the moonlight I promise you Will you promise me?

Our last names on a wooden sign Arm in arm, where the river starts to wind Forever by your side"

I love this song. It's beautiful and meaningful on so many levels.

To me she only doesnt want to be a bride because she doesnt want to have expectantions. To her anything is fine as long he will be with her forever.
