This song is beautiful, but terribly depressing.
This is a concept album about the death of a relationship and the male speaker's manner of handling it. "Safe Without" suggests that he has resigned himself to having a platonic relationship with his partner, but it goes wrong. This song is his final plea, begging him/her back. The speaker highlights the partner's unfair inability to completely cut the cord ("On this side, you WANNA see..." versus actuality, "On this side, you're GONNA see...") The "No fucking way," seems to be the partner's response to what is the suggestion of rekindling their love instead of being friends.
"There's nowhere to stay" hints they have to choose to be together or separate completely, that there can be no middle ground for them, no grey area to linger in.

Following the concept of the album (the death of a relationship) I believe this is that part that most that have lived there went through: the re-enconter. After everything that happens you star feeling good again, you realize you are better off without that relationship and now you can do whatever you want (Safe Without) but suddenly you go to a party and you meet her. She's there and you can't help but feeling bad again. Then you just can't avoid a conversation and then the worse that can happens: you kiss her. If you ever lived that situation, you will understand the confusion that he is going though:
"Please explore my love's endurance And stay, stay Please endure my love's exhortations " - You beg to her explore the moment of weakness you are having and take you back. You didn't what to be with her, but what the fuck, you are already there. But of course of listen to a lot of " No fucking way"s and No's

I've been through this lately, it was awful, you are not sure what you want, you were certain it is good for you to stay away, but once again, you can only think about getting back together again.
Also, "All of the ways" is a great continuation to that, since you can see that she tells him that she already is dating another person and she won't go back to him.

I can't believe this hasn't gotten any comments yet. This is my absolute favorite song off the album, it's so beautiful and bittersweet. I get to see these guys in concert two nights in a row starting tomorrow.

You know, to me the title of the song it says all.Try it on, it for example when you go to a clothes store and you ask for a price and the person who sales the clothes( saleman/woman?) insist you to try it on the clothes and you really dont want to do it but you do it anyway despite that you know that the clothes are goign to look horrible on you.To me this song is that,the person is trying to giving a chance to this realtionship because the other person insits that they can work it out but one of them( the narrator) already know that this is not going to work....Just my point of view,sorry for my speelling,english is not my mother tongue.

So far this is the only song on the new album I like, surprised to see there aren't any comments also!
Easily my favourite song off the album. It's about a relationship that's not working out, but the girl is trying to hold on - 'You wanna see that There's no change' and so is he. He's trying to console himself (and the girl) by saying that 'Well if you're right, I'll put my keys back'. But ultimately he knows it's going nowhere - 'Please endure my love's exhortations, No way, No fucking way'. Pretty bitter song but that's basically Paul's style.
