God I love this song so much and this band so much...
I think that this song is about two people who love and care about each other and are off and on but finally one of them decides to finally call it off though only cause they think the other person would benefit from the whole ordeal.
Its a sad song, but I think it may go deeper....

The beginning is pretty boring, but the song redeems itself as soon as the chorus starts. It just sounds so drab until he starts making those promises
