Flaws Lyrics

Taking the second plan,
Begging to understand,
Life of a selfless man.

'Cos out of all the flaws I've stumbled on,
It's the hardest one to focus on.
It's the hardest one to focus on.

Why're you calling on?
Isn't one enough?
Giving up all she's got.

'Cos out of all the flaws I've stumbled on,
It's the hardest one to focus on.
It's the hardest one to focus on.

I personally believe this is a song about a man realizing what he has done to a woman, and trying to correct himself. He is taking the second plan, going a different route. Life of a selfless man, selfless as in not leading her on or realizing he cannot keep trailing her on. It is hard for him because he knows it is one of his own flaws, but its the hardest one to change. He may love this woman, but not the love she needs. He has done it more than once, "isn't one enough", and she has offered herself emotionally (or physically), "giving up all she's got". This is a truly beautiful song, and Lucy Rose backs Jack for a flawless song. One of my favorites.

I love this song, it reminds me of someone having to make a life changing decision and weighing up the flaws of the different options,

Taking the second plan, Begging to understand,

I personally see it as a song about infidelity. The speaker cannot be selfless, as they are selfish. This translates to acting on impulse only for your own gain. As his girlfriend gives it his all, he still wants more aside from her. More lovers. He can't stay faithful.

My Interpretation

I see it as the man looking back on all the things that he's done and looking at himself and realising that what he did to the girl is hard or impossible to fix. He's sees that she gave up everything but he still wanted more.

I really love this song whatever the meaning.

My Interpretation

I see it as someone choosing to ignore the fact that their partner cheated on them because it’s too much to handle. “Isn’t one enough?” “Beggin’ to understand” Like why am I not enough for you? But I’m going to ignore it because it’s too much to “focus on” and she still wants to be with him. She can handle his other flaws, but not this one, so she’s trying to take a “second plan.” She’s giving up everything to still be with this person. But I also see it from the other partner’s perspective. He’s trying to understand why she’s not enough for him and how other more “selfless” men stay faithful while he can’t? He knows she’s giving up everything and chose to stay with him. He knows he has a lot of flaws, but this is a flaw he isn’t ready to fix. He won’t face it and he’s trying to figure out what to do, a new “plan.” I think that’s the beauty of having just the two of them singing it together.
