I finished at the high of my high school
They said I could do whatever I wanted to
I thought about it for a while
And I answered with a smile...

I choose failure, failure and regret
Failure and dreams are never met
Failure, failure and regret
Failure and dreams are never met

I learned to follow rules and be regrets
My parents were so proud of my success
I could say it was fun but Id be a liar
Four years, light a match put my head of fire

I choose failure, failure and regret
Failure and dreams are never met
Failure, failure and regret
Failure and dreams are never met

Its a lo-ooo-ng wa-aaa-y do-aaa-wn
And theres so much further to go,
so much further to go
uh oh

(Stanza above ^ is sung against stanza's below until the line Having sex with private squirrels)

Its Rolly polly feeling of never knowing what to do
Knowing exactly how parents smells
Stealing each and every toe
Never getting out of bed

They pick some-one else instead
Burning cups but now theyre calm
Waking up in a bull-a-bard
You cant even touch your toes

We all know where your money goes
Parking bills, playing cards, they look like theyre having fun
Holding fast, weekend goes, waiting but they never called
Having sex with private squirrels

Beaten up by little girls
Heman flap, photo op, nail but never flop
Now Id ask you to do the dance but someone stole your underpants
Wake all night, sleep all day

Looks like that fracture will go away
Public place, secret chain
Youve only got yourself to blame
We could never get your turn
These are lessons that youll never learn
A perfect moment but you spoiled it
I put your gold fish down the toilet

Oh Im serious, oh Im serious,
Next to you, no one cares
This is all when Im under,
Forgot it that there is no cure

For Failure, failure and regret
Failure and dreams are never met
Failure, failure and regret
Failure and dreams are never met

(Stanza above ^ is sung against stanza below until closing of song)

Its a lo-ooo-ng wa-aaa-y do-aaa-wn
And theres so much further to go,
so much further to go
uh oh

I finished at the height of my high school They said I could do whatever I wanted to I thought about it for a while And then I answered with a smile

I choose failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met Failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met

I learned to follow rules and be repressed My parents were so proud of my success I could say that it was fun but I'd be a liar Four years, like a match with my head on fire

Choose failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met Failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met

It's a long way down There's so much further to go, so much further to go-o-o

Yes I'm all alone, feeling blue Never knowing what to do Was happy, now it's low
    Stubbing each and every toe

Never getting out of bed They pick someone else instead Burn out faster than a comet Wake up in a pool of vomit

You can't even touch your toes We all know where your money goes Popping pills, playing dumb Make pretend you're having fun

Old and fat, weak and bald You waited but they never called Having sex with rabid squirrels Beaten up by little girls

Too much pot, bored a lot They all laughed but you got caught No one asked you to the dance Someone stole your underpants

Up all night, sleep all day Looks like that rash won't go away Public favor, secret shame You've only got yourself to blame

Wait but never get your turn The lessons that you'll never learn A perfect moment but you spoiled it I flushed your goldfish down the toilet

Volunteers, volunteers That's really nice, but no one cares What's the moral? I'm not sure I got it bad, there ain't no cure

For failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met Failure, failure and regret Failure and dreams I never met

It's a long way down There's so much further to go, so much further to go-o-o

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song "Fortnight" by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word "fortnight" shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
