Control Lyrics

Err on the side of caution
They're taking in the new girls
Two faced, too poised to shed a tear
No memory to speak of
Past in the night we didn't hear
The fading breath of your love

We lose control of the moment
Another trend goes out of season
A new love, forever
Look the other way
You see through me
A new trend, indifference

You are a child of privilege
Your reputation leads you
All trace of life will disappear
You're falling into season
Their every word is insincere
There is no time for reason

We lose control of the moment
Another trend goes out of season
A new love, forever
Look the other way
You see through me
A new trend, indifference

Remember our childhood
It's not quite the same
A pale hue of new blood
They all know your name

We lose control of the moment
Another trend goes out of season
A new love, forever
Look the other way
You see through me
A new trend, indifference

I think that this song (or more a story) is about revenge to explain characters in this song, there will only be two main ones, the rich girl and the Servant

  • two girls- one of high standing (you are a child of privilege) used to be friends with a girl- maybe a servant or hired play mate of the rich girl. The rich girl is told at a constant to be proper and as a result is very spoiled, cruel and flat out mean while pretending to be innocent to adults (two faced, too poised to shed a tear) She gets bored of her Servant (past in the night we didn't hear the fading breath of your love) and decides to hurt her and she is rushed away.

a few days or weeks later the rich girl calls for more playmates, who are warned that this she has a short temper (err on the side of caution, they're taking in the new girls) in order to entertain her. Because of her reputation, she hides away her past sins with the first girl but continues these acts on the next couple (your reputation leads you)

She finally gets down to torturing her final victim and surprise- its the Servant from before ready to kill Rich girl because of her cruelty and lies (all trace of life will disappear/ where every word is insincere there is no time for reason) they begin to fight and start loosing control of the fight between them (we lose control of the moment.), In a desperate attempt, the spoiled girl starts trying to remind the other of their time together (remember our childhood) the Servant simply said that things had changed and that in reality, everyone knew of her hate and wanted her dead just as much as she did (its not quite the same. a pale hue of new blood, they all know your name)

After the Servant finally kills the rich girl, she simply walks out, covered in blood. Many of the others saw this, but didn't care. (look the other way, you see through me, a new trend: indifference)

yes I know a lot of it didn't go in perfect order, but I saw the childhood thing as sort of a flashback and had to explain it first in order for the rest to make sense

My Interpretation

This is about how people blindly follow trends. I imagine at the beginning it's at a catwalk show and people are taking notes on what they should and shouldn't wear this season. Then the speaker and her gang storm the event and protest the nonsense, saying that the most important trend is indifference. Not caring. They convince people to "remember our childhoods" - the times we could play dress up and have fun without a care in the world.

I like to think that it ends happily by everyone throwing away their notes and rocking out and having fun, not worrying about fashion anymore. <3

Err (or so it sounds) on the side of caution They're taking in the new girls

(Two faced, too poised to shed a tear) No memory to speak of (Passed in the night, we didn't hear) The fading breath of your love

We lose control of the moment Another trend goes out of season A new love(?), forever Look the other way You see through me A new trend - indifference

You are a child of privilege Your reputation leads you (All traits of life will disappear) You're falling into season (Their every word is insincere) There is no time for reason

We lose control of the moment Another trend goes out of season A new love(?), forever Look the other way You see through me A new trend - indifference

(I can't even understand this part from the actual song)

We lose control of the moment Another trend goes out of season A new love(?), forever Look the other way You see through me A new trend - indifference

I think in the beginning it's "They're on the side of caution, they're taking in the new girls."

one of my favorite songs from the new album for sure

I think this song is about how Chibi broke into the business and how she left her old life behind and is now a rising star, but no one really cares about who she is and her hopes and desires. This leaves her cold and indifferent herself; the coldness of the business has rubbed off on her and she is now one of them.
