Pins And Needles Lyrics
Once a night my bedroom light
Sneaks out from inside my window
Eyes white, I keep out of sight
This city's just not pretty like it used to be
It's always a nightmare, it's never a dream
The promise we make to kill the days between
They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone
It's been so long
Feels like pins and needles in my heart
So long
I can feel it tearing me apart
To the bed the left unsaid
Crawl in from outside my window
Hands red and cold as the dead
A pity they're not pretty like they used to be
It's always a nightmare, it's never a dream
The promise we make to kill the days between
They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone
It's been so long
Feels like pins and needles in my heart
So long
I can feel it tearing me apart
It's never a whisper, it's always a scream
The promise we make to kill the time between
They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone
It's been so long
Feels like pins and needles in my heart
So long
I can feel it tearing me apart
Sneaks out from inside my window
Eyes white, I keep out of sight
This city's just not pretty like it used to be
The promise we make to kill the days between
They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone
Feels like pins and needles in my heart
So long
I can feel it tearing me apart
Crawl in from outside my window
Hands red and cold as the dead
A pity they're not pretty like they used to be
The promise we make to kill the days between
They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone
Feels like pins and needles in my heart
So long
I can feel it tearing me apart
The promise we make to kill the time between
They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone
Feels like pins and needles in my heart
So long
I can feel it tearing me apart

lol usagi, read up on this album and some interviews, this song has nothing to do with serial killers.
I did not pre-google this. So if there’s an official answer, I don’t know it.
I think it’s from a young woman’s point of view and I think it’s a horror. I think the light bleeding out from inside in verse one is how an undead creature finds her, or is attracted to her window. The city not being pretty is because there is a zombie apocalypse happening. Which of course is always a nightmare. Never a dream. And killing the days between is some reference to holding up and just surviving in the post apocalypse world with only memories of what once was - people that are now gone but to whom she promised she would try and survive.
Verse two is after the zombie/walker or whatever got in from outside the window, and she was bit or eaten. Either she turned and became a zombie, or it’s the zombies hands that are red and cold as the dead and no longer pretty. I lean towards her having turned and eaten someone else.
The nerves of the whole situation feels like pins and needles and feeling them tearing me apart is about being eaten alive.
Never a whisper, always a scream, like when one is being bit, eaten, etc.
This song kicks ASS. By far the best song on the new album. Beautiful vocals in this.
"Once a night my bedroom light BLEEDS out from inside my window"
And I'm pretty sure it's "a promise we make..." even though it's a small error.
^ correct about both
This song is about a serial killer. Yes, it sounds like a romance song, but I really can't help but think the deeper meaning is a serial killer. Walk with me here.
"Eyes white, I keep out of sight This city's just not pretty like it used to be" The serial killer was never caught, but had to stop to keep from getting caught. But, the city they live in isn't as pretty now that the dredges of society - in their eyes, the ones they used to kill - are piled up because no one has killed them.
"It's always a nightmare, it's never a dream The promise we make to kill the days between They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone"
This is referring to the promise they made with themselves - to not get caught, to not kill anymore because they don't want to get caught. But, it's a nightmare trying to keep the urge to kill down.
"It's been so long Feels like pins and needles in my heart So long I can feel it tearing me apart"
The desire to kill is almost like a "pins and needles" feeling, always there in the back of their mind, egging them on. But, it must be contained and the struggle is tearing them apart.
"To the bed the left unsaid Crawl in from outside my window Hands red and cold as the dead A pity they're not pretty like they used to be"
This is the wish and the need to not get caught welling up inside and causing a nightmare - they imagine that they went out and killed someone, but were sloppy about it and came home covered in blood, it's not as pretty anymore because they're freaking out about the police instead of savoring it.
I absolutely adore TBM! And Chibi's vocals here were hauntingly amazing - they were the whole reason I couldn't see this song just being a love song, the vocals were a little too dark to be just a love song, and really - it's the Birthday Massacre! When are any of their songs "just" one thing? =D
this song is about a lost relationship.
Once a night my bedroom light Sneaks out from inside my window
-awoken in the night by a nightmare
Eyes white, I keep out of sight This city's just not pretty like it used to be
-withdrawn, the city's lost is beauty now that she's alone
It's always a nightmare, it's never a dream The promise we (MADE!) to kill the days between
-whoever submitted lyrics made a HUGE mistake, this practically defines the meaning. regret is her nightmare, the memory of lost promises to be together forever
They live in the heartbeat and sleep til the light is gone
-the past haunts her dreams
It's been so long Feels like pins and needles in my heart So long I can feel it tearing me apart
-"pins and needles", the sign of a waking limb. her heart has been without feeling and the only thing that makes it feel anymore is the pain of the lost love.
To the bed the left unsaid Crawl in from outside my window
-great metaphor for her always thinking of what was left unsaid
Hands red and cold as the dead A pity they're not pretty like they used to be
-she is aging, the relationship was quite a ways in the past
so there you have it. it's not even that complex, how could you think it was about a serial killer...
*** A promise we made
I think it's the point of view of a teenage girl, who's probably around age 15 or 16. Her life isn't as great as she thought it was when she was little... like her parents fighting and her struggling.
"This city's just not pretty like it used to be"
-When she was a little girl, she thought that the city was pretty and perfect, everything was perfect.
"It's always a nightmare, it's never a dream"
-She only lives in a nightmare, she doesn't have a dream life anymore like when she was a child. She lives in reality.
"It's been so long Feels like pins and needles in my heart So long I can feel it tearing me apart"
-It's been so long since everything seemed to be going good in life, and it's starting to tear her apart emotionally inside, which results to this line: "Hands red and cold as the dead A pity they're not pretty like they used to be"
-She's referring to the fact her hands are probably torn up and rough, due to being in fights, and having anger (punching walls, etc)
"Sneaks out from inside my window Eyes white, I keep out of sight"
-She sneaks out of her house to go be with friends, the only comfort she really has, but she keeps out of sight because it's late and past curfew.
"It's never a whisper, it's always a scream"
-The sounds of her parents arguing and yelling, which she thought when she was little that they were a perfect family.
I feel like this song is interpreting what a lot of teenagers go through during a divorce, and how their world gets turned upside down.
The serial killer interpretation sounds way cooler so it should be that way.

Sounds like a variation of Dr. Jekyll and Hyde. Or more specifically, Edward Hyde who'd go out on nightly forays in London every night murdering and probably killing prostitutes. What he did was nondescript in the book so that's open to imagination.

This song does not remind me of a serial killer's point of view AT ALL. You can keep it a serial killer interpretation, and I'll keep it my own interpretation. Everyone's happy.

I think that this song is from a vampire's perspective.
