She said,
"Let it slide.
All the things that I
Have running through my mind
Will all be gone in time.
Remember son,
All the things you've done,
And all the things you've lost,
And all the things you've won."
We're just trying to find some color
In this black and white world.
Tell me everything
Will be alright,
Walk this way with me
Into the night,
Cause you can let it slide,
Baby, just for tonight,
Just know that everyone feels broken sometimes.
She said,
"Take your time,
Things will be just fine;
To bite thehand that feeds,
Cause nothing's ever mine.
And just wait your turn,
And always try to learn
To love the ones that don't show love in return."
We're just trying to find some color
In this black and white world.
Tell me everything
Will be alright,
Walk this way with me
Into the night,
Cause you can let it slide,
Baby, just for tonight,
Just know that everyone feels broken sometimes.
When you're walking backwards,
Don't be afraid to close your eyes,
Cause the truth is, darling,
Everything will be alright.
Tell me everything
(Tell me anything)
Walk this way with me
(Just tell me anything)
Cause you can let it slide,
Baby just for tonight,
Just know that everyone feels broken sometimes.
Tell me everything
Will be alright,
Walk this way with me
Into the night,
Cause you can let it slide,
Baby, just for tonight,
Just know that everyone feels broken sometimes.
Oh yeah, everyone feels cheated sometimes.
Yeah, we all feel a little fucked up sometimes.

I dunno. I mean, the lyrics for the first bit of the chorus are a little similar, yeah, but I don't really think that the two songs on the whole that similar; the rest of the song is different. Especially because the "she" mentioned in this verses of this song clearly isn't a girlfriend if she calls him "son". I think the chorus is speaking to a different person than the verses, but maybe that's just me. And yeah, some of the songs are a little cliché, but I still like them, this one especially. It makes me smile, and sometimes that's all I need from my music. I do wish they'd done a little more branching out in terms of sound, though.
so yeah first of all this album is some of their best work, and this song is a total eargasm. second, in the second it's
"*DON'T bite the hand that feeds"
not
"TO bite the hand that feeds"
the maine fuckin rocked my world the four times i have seen them live. damn, why can't other bands be this good :]
*****in the second VERSE that is my mistake
*****in the second VERSE that is my mistake
But I think John Mayer's lyrics have a different meaning than the Maine's lyrics...sometimes, two people can say the same thing, but have completely a completely different meaning behind what they're saying.
guys...just shut up about cliches and repetition ok? this is just a simple song with a good meaning and it sounds amazing. its just a great song!!!! the maine is a great band!!!
from I Must Be Dreaming:
Tell me that you love me And it'll be alright Are you thinking of me? Just come with me tonight
from Color:
Tell me everything Will be alright, Walk this way with me Into the night
see the resemblance? same beat, similar lyrics. i think they should have tried more original lyrics since they claim to be branching out from their old album
Yes! When I was typing the lyrics for this, that's exactly what I was thinking because "I Must Be Dreaming" is my favorite The Maine song and I was like.. wait.. this sounds familiar!

Also, in the bridge of the song, it totally sounds like a tribute to Good Charlotte. He sings, "Everything will be alright, alright," with almost EXACTLY the same melody that Joel sings that same line in GC's old song "Waldorf Worldwide". I dunno if that's intentional, but The Maine have toured with GC so I thought it might be.
I LOVE the outro on this song.
i agree with mangosloveydove about the lyrics meaning and i disagree with rhorow's statement that they "just too repetitive"
its repetitive enough to where it is catchy but not so repetitive to where it makes them annoying.
They're becoming a tad cliche... and using similar lyrics to artists such as John Mayer especially with the lines
We're just trying to find some color In this black and white world.
John Mayer's song goes: No I'm not color blind, i know the world's in black and white
I want to like The Maine i really do. Some of their songs are just too repetitive.
yeah I have to agree with amandamelody. very similar. I love The Maine, but this album doesn't completely wow me on first listen. A little too much of the same old, and the new stuff isn't necessarily improvements. and as for the meaning of the song...none of them are too complex, are they? growing up, finding yourself, young love, blah blah blah. all this talk of growing up makes me wonder why I'm not hearing it more in the songs... its all just reading a little CLICHE. oh well. I probably just need to give it some time.
