This town used to be a pretty place to stay
A place you'd stop off on the highway
But all of those things changed on the day
You packed up your bags and you ran away
All they say is how you've changed
Every day I stay the same
So you can keep the necklace that I gave to you
I'll keep the shitty tattoos
I can see it from the other side
The grass isn't always as green
The house is burnt to ashes
I'm no longer in between
R.I.P., R.I.P.
You and me (x2)
I count the empty bottles up on the bar
But I give up; I can't count that far
And the lights in this place are too dim to see
They're kickin' me out
It's a quarter past three
They tell me you're all I've got
I just need these dreams to stop
You can keep the necklace that I gave to you
I'll keep the shitty tattoos
I can see it from the other side
The grass isn't always as green
The house is burnt to ashes
I'm no longer in between
R.I.P., R.I.P.
You and me (x2)
In the back of the car
On the way to your home
In the pouring rain
On the side of road
In the light of the street
In the recline of the seat
You told me I should move on (x2)
I can see it from the other side
The grass isn't always as green
The house is burnt to ashes
I'm no longer in between
R.I.P., R.I.P.

This is one of my favorite songs from Streets of Gold. I think it's pretty clearly about a relationship that has ended and the girl has moved on but he hasn't. In my opinion, 3OH!3 does just as well with meaningful songs as they do with fun, catchy pop songs. I like how they switch it up sometimes.
i agree, i think this is the best song from Streets of Gold. i love this part.. "I can see it from the other side The grass isn't always as green The house is burnt to ashes I'm no longer in between"
i think it means that they see reality now and that it isn't going to work out or that person just isn't right for them. and "i'm no longer in between" shoes that the person isn't confused anymore...they aren't in denial about the situation. they know that they just need to let the other person go.
Lovee it. Absolutley agree;is best of Streets of Gold. That or Touchin on my (: xcaitlyncaliforniaax
I dont think he's over her in this song. I think he understands that the relationship is over for good with the way he says "you can keep the necklace that I gave to you/ Ill keep the shitty tattoos", but the song also insinuates that he's been out drinking, which shows he's upset about it, and it says that she's telling him to move on, so he obviously hasnt yet. Also, the chorus "I can see it from the other side, the grass isn't always as green, the house is burned to ashes, I'm no longer in between", he's saying that the grass isnt as green on the other side, showing that he misses the life he had with her, because it was "greener".
@chelkel09 i thought that issa idiom. That 'the grass always greener on the other side' one. Which meant that he think she is in a better situation, although she might not be
